  • Curious to see how their apologists will spin that.

Every dead Palestinian Muslim is a martyr to Hamas, no? Every life just another tool to accomplish their religious-political objective, which afaik is solely the destruction of Israel. Or ask yourself why they intentionally link their paramilitary network to schools, hospitals, private residences and such.

Say whatever you want about Israel and Zionism, Hamas are NOT "the good guys" here and never have been. Their actions are indefensible. No amount of whataboutism changes that...

  • Wow your imagination really took off there, because that... is not what I said.

The story mentions AI to make this sound like something new and specific to AI. Whereas both heavy editing of portraits/videos, and Eurocentric beauty standards, are basically as old as photography itself.

I'm fine with criticizing the industry for racist stereotypes; can't we also criticize it for perpetuating the myths of unrealistic perfect bodies and complexions?

  • Every time I see him now...

"Think about the time we bought you an ice cream and a cookie. Rented that Lambo so we could go buy milk when we played hooky. That was our ride, we rode it around, yeah momma it was good, til we hit that boy in the pink golf shirt with the pepper spray tan and he laid down on the concrete."

  • Hey now. Adults have been borrowing against their children's futures for generations. It's something of an American tradition at this point.

Maybe that is connected to each subsequent generation having less wealth, lower life expectancy, lower standard of living and generally being more miserable than the previous...

Nah I'm sure it's just coincidence.

  • other substance that affects mood or behaviour and is consumed for non-medical purposes

Mmmm then I'm about to make delicious narcotics for breakfast. Cup of hot narcotics, and a plate of narcotics with narcotics on the side.

  • It's easy for me to judge living in anonymity in a progressive city with a supporting network around me (I'm trans).

More likely she was raised conservative, built a career and family around it, in a small southern town where maintaining that facade is the only way to be accepted, then realized "oh shit I'm trans" and panicked.

At that point, I can totally understand how difficult it would be to escape decades of baggage. Many trans ppl are reluctant to come out for precisely those reasons: career, family, lack of acceptance. The result is turmoil.

I view her more as a lost trans sibling who was born into a cruel world and should be mourned, while not excusing her poor choices of political affiliation. I'm sure it was a daily struggle trying to reconcile what conservatives were saying about people like her, with her own identity.

Not everyone is strong enough to fight this fight.

  • I don't think that's anything to do with cuisine, but rather the vast difference in standard of living between where we live and most of India. Same is true of Mexico and many other places. Their limited resources likely going into obtaining something edible, rather than selecting from the highest quality options available and paying for refrigerated storage.

Ofc we also have highly regulated industries of food production, transportation, and consumption, where licensing a restaurant typically involves meeting numerous requirements on safety and cleanliness. But that doesn't come cheap.

  • I think this is correct.

    Torture is dehumanization.

If you're willing to torture a terrorist, or even a serial killer or something, then you have it in your nature to torture anyone for any reason.

Like people who abuse animals. It's engaging in and cultivating a very dark part of a person's nature, which can manifest in many different ways.

  • moral army

    Lol there's no such thing.

Literally every violent conflict is filled wth abuses on all sides.

Having mercifully never been in a war, I don't know how it feels. But it's easy to see how individual soldiers just snap, and do completely unhinged shit.

For example we all agree the Nazis and Imperial Japanese were despicable. Yet learning about how Allied soldiers would execute prisoners, extract body parts (teeth, ears) as trophies, and so on, really brought home to me how even the most "necessary" wars, even in self-defense, are grotesque perversions of human nature.
