I would like to inform you why your comment's tone was problematic cause most of the issues are not word choice, it's structuring. Your comment intention may have been to be amiable, but to average person your comment reads as snarky and with an air of superiority. This is mainly because the comment it is replying to does not present a view with strong conviction or to argue, they stated something and happened to reveal another belief. They talk about their uptime with macos and happen to reveal they think macos is UNIX.

If you had say said "Oh you probably shouldn't say macos is UNIX and here's why" and then proceeded to give explicit reasons and then ended the comment, it would have ended there with many upvotes. It's the presence of the "Well, um ashkuallyyyy..." structure in your comment along with the "That's not how this works pal" that makes it rude. It's like you're shaming them for not knowing instead of seeking to inform, it's not your usage of the word pal, it's the argumentative negative stance. You could have ended with "I hope that helped you learn more pal!" And everything would have been fine. Positive vs negative. Structure matters. Anyway I hope that helped you learn more pal!

GNOME catching a devious stray there for no reason

They are working on screen reader support, there was a blog post about that 2-5 days ago I think.

I have only one recommendation: Witch Hat Atelier. Peak magic manga. Probably the best magic manga to be written at least in my opinion.

Despite many people in this thread saying KDE, GNOME has been recently been financed to work on accessibility with the STF fund contract work, so major advancements in accessibility are likely to hit them first. They are also looking into getting more contract financing for it. KDE might be fairly equal right now, but I foresee GNOME getting more stuff sooner. Especially in regards to screen readers and just general app accessibility with changes to Libadwaita.

That's true, I was just hoping to maybe convince you to try out something that maybe you don't know is wonderful yet. I've had that experience with music before, and I think it helped me to understand why people like things

You shouldn’t generalize, a lot of the stuff that gets played a lot is not indicative of the whole genre. There is some rap that makes me cover my ears, and there is some rap that makes me feel enlightened. Hip hop it just depends on the song, since there is so much variety.

I don’t think it keeps my saved posts and comments though so I’d have to get those back manually

I really need to move off Lemmy.ml, moving all my saved stuff seems like it's going to be annoying though

I might be wrong since I haven't checked for the location in gnome 40 but there should be tab in the main settings app for it; if not just search workspace in that app and it should come up.

You can have multiple workspaces per monitor on GNOME, just check your multitasking settings. I do this for my workflow since it's more efficient for me.

It’s actually really funny you say that since starting out with default gnome is actually what got me to stick with Linux. I tried out Ubuntu style gnome and tried stuff like dash to panel and dash to dock but found it either unstable or hated it. Vanilla gnome is what got me to be at peace lol. I thought I didn’t like it at first but then it just suddenly clicked once I got over that. Calling it bad is just rude.

Aside from the integrated terminal in almost any app, I think gnome has all those other features you mentioned. I do have to say KDE is definitely more customizable though. Also not sure I would say gnome has any MacOS features, the two are very different in my experience. But gnome is definitely lagging on implementation of Somme Wayland things. UI/UX is king though for me so here we are lol.

That’s really interesting cause in my experience it’s been the opposite, I feel way too limited and also overwhelmed using kde apps, the plethora of gnome apps on flathub dedicated to doing one thing really well are just wonderful. And sometimes more complicated ones show up too like Design or Denaro or Planify.

If you rely on extensions when you use GNOME, that’s on you. Vanilla gnome is perfectly fine by itself if you understand the workflow. I only really want, not need, one extension and that’s pano the clipboard manager. Anything else is just extra.

Harry Potter, the movies are at least wizards do wizard stuff even if the world is pretty boring to me. The books on the other hand, are just straight up strange and mean. Reading them as kid they just sucked, I have no clue why they are so popular outside of the movies.

Yes, but not very often at all, I believe most species have evolved to not mate with their relatives. Interbreeding causes significant problems if done for long enough.

I haven’t so far, but I did the 1tb ssd upgrade so I haven’t had to use microsd very much. From my experience it works the same as steamos if you had done the btrfs file system change.
