  • Well, you can be against fossil wars AND against the exploitation of billions of sentient beings as well. I'm pretty sure most vegans are.
And while you can not stop the US army from murdering children in the middle East, you CAN actually stop paying for slaves to murder our fellow earthlings in an instant. And you'd immediately save two-thirds of land, water, and CO2 emissions by doing so.

  • Here, let the german Deputy of the Federal Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection tell you about nuclear energy. Starts at 24:56.
My English isn't good enough to translate it all in detail, but these are the basics:
Germany shut down all nuclear power plants but 3, which will shut down soon. So we will be nuclear free in the future, no going back from there. Then he talks about the nuclear power plants in France, which are all ailing and will be extremely expensive to repair (at least 1 billion euros per power plant). They are only still working because they belong to the state, otherwise they would have been insolvent long ago. A newly planned nuclear power plant is already so expensive to plan that most investors have backed out. If this power plant is ever built, it will supply the most expensive electricity ever produced in Europe.

  • Good advice!
Not sure if I like "live life to the fullest" anymore, though. It sounds so 90s to me: Doing your thing, not caring about anything. Maybe I'm getting old and grumpy, but I'd rather like everyone to live their lifes humble and responsibly, than to continue the egomaniac insanity of the Western lifestyle from the past decades.

  • I know all of this! I just refuse to lay down and give up like a rabbit in the headlights. We're not hungry, not cold, not in survival-mode, yet. We're still the lucky ones, so let's live up to that. You can cry when our time has actually come.

  • Well, it doesn't look good, I absolutely agree. But still, you're no fortune teller and world history is full of plot twists. Christianity went from a strange little hippie-cult to a world religion in no time, and noone saw that coming. Germany reuniting? Not in a 1000 years, said everyone a year before it actually happened. I'm too lazy to find more examples, because this is not my native language. You get my point: We don't know! Let veganism conquer the world, maybe! Telling your children we're doomed feels so desperate and grim. But there is always hope. I'm not doomed at this very moment, so let's do something! Grow a tomato, hug your child, take a walk, punch a fascist, blow up a pipeline. :)

  • Well, there are still valid ethical and health reasons not to eat their eggs. Chicken feed always contains soy from rainforest-areas as well. But if your backyard eggs are the only animal products you use, then I'd say that you're already doing pretty good.

  • I am in a much more lucky place than you seem to be, still I feel what you are saying. I try to imagine the incredible hardship and suffering previous generations had to face. We're still the lucky ones. That helps me sometimes to appreciate basic stuff. Plus eat 3,5g of magic mushrooms, maybe. Let them blow your brains out.
(Disclaimer: I'm not a native speaker, if any of this sounds offensive I apologise. I'm writing this only with good intentions.)

  • The series is great as well. I was reluctant because the film is so perfect and I didn't want it to get draged out and repetitive. They did exactly that but still they managed to keep it super funny with great new vampires.

  • I agree, changing your diet is something you need to be willing to do, because it takes time to learn new things. Some take babysteps, some go all in. It is possible to cook and bake delicious food without animal products. So have fun learning!
