  • Just like I am happy with Apple and Google taking a cut and running their app stores. If these big companies could make their own store, they would. Apple would lose a cut, but that does not affect me as a consumer. What does affect me is a gate keeper keeping terrible practices in check. Making it nearly impossible to cancel a subscription instead of having a handy menu to just turn it off. Having places to put credit cards that are not secure. Collecting personal data nonstop. Etc etc.

  • While in college, my wife worked a summer in a local factory. She said what stood out the most was that everyone except the managers had bad teeth.

And Teeth are part of our body. Why it is not part of every health insurance plan is bizarre.

  • Guns work fine with smaller magazines. They do not work fine without a barrel.

Edit: and I say that as someone that owns several guns. That are in a gun safe at a family members because I have kids and not a great place to store them.

  • The US has this. The majority of fireman in the US are volunteers. But they are rarely called out for more than a few hours at a time (my neighbor went to a large fire for several days once, but that is extremely rare). Fighting a large brush fire could take weeks.

  • It is certainly early, they have not even tested it on animals. Many promising drugs either do not work as believed or have nasty side effects that make them unusable. But we humans have invented many other amazing things. While caution is warranted, just writing it off as impossible is also premature.
