Did he do/say something that should have trashed his reputation? I used to read Ctrl+alt+del like 15 years ago (I recent found my signed copies of the first two hardcover collections) but I haven't followed in forever.
Look. Am I going to vote for whoever the democratic nominee is? Yeah.
Am I going to be saying the democratic party is generally also racist, transobobic, capitalist, and don't really give a shit about you? Also yes.
The republican party being more racist, transobobic, and capitalist doesn't mean the democratic party isn't. And I'm sick of people pretending otherwise.
I'm not advocating violence, I'm just saying politicians have gotten a lot more brazen with their corruption and hypocrisy since we stopped using guillotines.
I've left a dozen or so jobs over my entire life. One because the job was eliminated, five or six because school was starting/ending, one because the manager was a prick, and the rest exclusively because I was offered more money.
Reminds me of my last cat, Wednesday. She also only had one eye and her paperwork from the SPCA said "her jaw is misaligned, possibly from being hit by a car."
Older me kinda wishes younger me had considered accounting, but younger me was hung up on your first point. Younger me didn't want a boring job. Older me is like "I don't have to love my job, I just have to not hate it. I can do the things I love during my time." And a low key, low stress, high autonomy job kinda nails that. I'm kind of accounting adjacent (data analyst) and it's working out so far, but there's probably more salary stability in your career vs mine. The February to May crunch kinda scares me tho.
When I turned 30 or whatever age you have to be to run for Senate, I thought about have a fake but real senate run campaign announcement where my entire platform would be to punch Mitch McConnell or other GOP congressmembers in the neck every time they were hypocritical sacks of shit.
I mean, it doesn't matter what we actually do, Republicans are going to call anyone on the left unhinged and violent and whatever else anyways. Might as well actually use that as cover.
I still check out a couple hobby subs every day or two (via mobile browser, not the app). And if I'm looking for a certain type of information or advice, im still typing "[info desired] reddit" into google.
The democrats have had outright control of the senate for six of the past twenty years, they had caucus control (for lack of a better term) of the senate since January 2021. If they wanted to end the filibuster, they could have.
For the record, I've voted in every presidentialand midterm election - and most primary and local elections too - since 2003, voting almost straight democratic every single time. So I've toed the party line for damn near 20 hears.
Like, there's been a Democratic president for 11 of the past 20 years, and of those 11 years half of them democrats had unified executive and legislative control. And with that, gun violence has gotten worse, climate change has gotten worse, Roe was still overturned, the voting rights act was gutted and not fixed and any number of other issues. The democratic party message is always "vote for us, we'll make things better!" and we're just sitting over here like Charlie Brown. We're pissed off because we have voted for Democrats and things aren't better.
I mean, I'll grant that he's been pretty effective, but let's not forget the dude had both the House and Senate for the first two years of his term.
Like, you can cry "but Manchin and Senema!" all you want, but are you really going to try and tell me Mitch McConnell wouldn't have gotten those two motherfuckers in line?
