  • These types of Christians see not being put first and foremost as anti-Christian bias. They’re Christian supremacists and theocrats, and they deserve to be put down.

Once again, the most religious Christians show they’re the least Christ-like.

  • I understand. But I still stand by what I said. Voting for Trump speaks to a severe problem in EQ if not IQ, and people with intellectual deficits that severe tend not to be able to improve upon them. More people voted for him his second time than the first. That alone speaks to their short-sightedness and short memory. There was also much more information available to them about his character and his tyrannical agenda for his second term. These are not smart folks and I do not have high hopes that they can learn from their mistakes. An anti-gay parent who only changes their stance when their own child comes out hasn’t really learned anything, they’ve just adjusted their behavior based on self-interest. These folks are no different.

  • I hear your point and I think about that a lot, actually. Yes, what I said above was pithy and judgmental, but I also think it has a vein of truth in it.

I’ve dropped friends over their support for Trump, precisely because they fail to see what I deem to be obvious character flaws in him. That they can’t see those flaws speaks to an enormous lack of psychological perceptiveness. Can they realize they made a mistake in voting for him? I think they can regret it when the things he does negatively affect them, but that doesn’t mean their ability to judge character improves. What I meant by my statement above is that my confidence in people with such critical problems in empathy to fix those problems is extremely low.

I hope that more extensive explanation of my point makes it clear I’m not simply dismissing an entire class of people under a stereotype. I genuinely think supporting Trump speaks to a severe problem in psychological appraisal that is not easily rectified.

  • Your problem is you don’t understand what intrusive thoughts actually are.

Everyone has thoughts that creep into their stream of consciousness in response to stressors and are experienced as stressful thoughts that reflect a person’s latent anxieties.

Truly intrusive thoughts are thoughts that are injected into your stream of consciousness much more abruptly and reflect a psychotic problem in your brain. They’re often experienced as thoughts that aren’t your own and feel entirely alien to you in a way that the aforementioned thoughts do not. This can result in them being interpreted by the brain as “the CIA is projecting thoughts into my mind via a chip” to “I have a telepathic connection to God” depending on the mental illness in question.

Do not confuse these two things. The former is a normal phenomenon that is not an indication of serious mental illness; the latter definitely is.

  • Something about this just doesn’t make sense. Aircraft carriers aren’t lone ships out on the seas. They’re surrounded by a small fleet of destroyers and frigates meant to protect them. How did this ship manage to slink past said fleet and collide with the carrier?

  • No, you shouldn’t, because nearly half the country voted against Trump. It wasn’t enough, but it certainly indicates a significant portion of the country opposes him and the ideologies behind him. What we, as Americans, should be ashamed of is our pathetic educational system, which is at the root of this problem.

Both Republicans and Democrats are at the core of this problem. Republicans don’t want any public education at all and Democrats have polluted public education with Far Left propaganda that has fueled conservative rage and helped Far Right people divide the nation. Race and gender issues have eclipsed class issues, which are the real problems of the nation. As much as LGBT and racial groups deserve their particular rights, the real divisions at the heart of America are between the middle- and working-classes and the ultra-rich. Corporations are the prime devil that need to be taken down, not White men. Plenty of White men are suffering at the hands of corporations and they need to be woken up. The most recent election has shown that non-Whites are just as susceptible to Trump’s charms as anyone else. We need to stop focusing on superficial divisors such as race and gender and start focusing on class divisors much more.

  • So, if I hit Rhonda Rousey with my weak-ass jab and she uppercuts me through the ceiling in response, I should still be the one who gets the harsher punishment, right?

Dumbass misandrist logic. Just accept that no one should be hitting anyone and punish violent abusers equally.

  • However, Oblivion features a pretty small map - if Cyrodiil would be expanded proportionately to Skyrim or Morrowind and some content added, that would be great.

I guess I was thinking of the geographical map of Tamriel and not accounting for the technical limitations of the game compared to Skyrim. Good point.
