  • circumcision is the best route for your child's penis health

    Wrong.

Circumcision is a last resort when other treatments don't work. Phimosis can almost always be corrected without circumcision, and uncircumcised men are not in constant pain everywhere.

It's basically a useless skin tag

Wrong. It is not useless, it provides not only pleasure, but better lubrication during sex, reducing chaffing. It also protects the penis head when not erect, keeping sensitivity up and helping keep the glans moisturized.

  • Calling people who disagree with you misguided when it comes to purely matter of tastes is not just talking about one's opinion, but is in fact insulting other people for no reason. So fuck the author of this particular article.

  • Yes, I followed the ones posted. None of them say the opposite, they all leave out the results from the lidded flushes. And someone else posted a paper that showed that although lid closed produced fewer particles, they were larger, and lasted longer, so flushing lid closed was not particularly more hygienic.

  • Although Mythbusters is not a peer reviewed scientific source, they do employ reasonable standards of experimentation.

And the first source you posted is particularly interesting, with similar conclusions to what I remember from Mythbusters; that lids reduce the total number of particles found, but that the particles produced from lid use last longer and are larger. So a lid closed situation can;t really be said to be more hygienic.

Unfortunately on a cursory skimming of the other articles none of them seem compare toilets with lid down to lid up, they all seem to look at lidless toilets only. Thus, they can;t really speak to the topic of lid use being more hygienic without the direct comparison.

  • The plumbing authority link? Yeah, they leave out the part where the Mythbusters found poop everywhere when flushing with the lid closed as well.

  • Going off memory of the episode.

And from what I recall your source is leaving out the part where they found poop particles everywhere when they flushed with the lid down as well.

  • Mythbusters found it makes no difference in the spread of fecal matter. Toilet lids aren't perfect seals.

  • Mythbusters found it makes virtually no difference, and lid down can actually make particles go further due to the pressure forcing them through a smaller gap.

  • Turner Classic Movies I presume (not OP).

  • That's fair, though hopefully they will also be able to capture general CO2 in the air, not just what is emitted from the oilsands directly.

But we absolutely do need general CO2 capture, because the level of CO2 is already way too high, and even if we go to zero emissions today we will still see drastic warming due to the already present CO2.

  • I honestly had no idea until now that firewater had anything to do with Native Americans. I just thought it was a term for alcohol, and don't use it myself anyway.

  • 3D modelling and printing. You do need access to a printer (some libraries have them), but the plastics and resins are cheap, and you can make lots of cool stuff.

  • We need to capture some of what we've already put in the atmosphere. Keep what's in the ground there, and capture back what we've already polluted.

We need both, not one or the other.

  • Yep, Bing is pretty solid as far as search engines go.

  • Sure, just get an adBlocker

  • For someone like OPs mom it would be more than good enough is my point. She's saying she wished something existed that does indeed exist.

  • Of course, and much of it is on the app store now (which I rarely use myself), but for someone like OPs mom who just wants an easy app store, well there is one.

  • Yes, I read that. A couple thousand people out of billions of users were affected, and the problem was resolved. It's really not as big of an issue as you're making it out to be.
