  • Yeah, having never had covid, I definitely notice a lot of friends and family around me seeming to struggle mentally with stuff they used to be good at. And some of them physically, too. It has had a pretty noticeable cost already with most of them only getting it 1-3 times so far. If it keeps being around and adding up and people keep thinking of it as not a big deal, I can't imagine how much more it's going to affect them in 5-10 years.

So far, none of them have even gotten the specific effects necessary for a "long covid" label, but it has clearly done something.

  • It's certainly possible to pay alot for jeans, but it is by no means the norm for them to be expensive.

But it's not just jeans, it's all dress code restrictions that apply in situations where they don't or shouldn't matter.

Dress codes are ostensibly about the comfort level of your peers, but in actuality, they tend to be more about "who" they exclude rather than "what" they exclude... and are still about the "comfort" levels of the people that enforce them.

  • The funny thing is most presidents wouldn't be bothered by it, it's an honorable thing to do, but we know it's gonna bother trump, no matter how many times people tell him what honor is, it's never gonna sink in. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised it he tries, or even succeeds, at getting them raised for his inauguration.

  • Yeah, I suppose I could have made a list of the various other ways, like the water cycle, thermal vents, and the effects of surface level winds on water below the surface too. But even given all those methods, anything else that helps move water around faster is gonna have some effect.

  • And I'm sure the strong tidal pull likely had an accelerating effect on the early stages of the emergence of life, since the first steps would have basically had to crash into each other in water without having any other way to move. There are many other ways for that to happen on the "millions of years" time scale, but the amount the moon moves our water has got to have had a notable effect.

  • It should, they are not giving any proper reason to, just trying to cheaply get more money from you wasting more of your time. They are wrong, they should feel bad. Making a video with the express purpose of trying to milk money out of it is not a successful strategy long-term. Making good content that people want to watch to the end without being told to is much harder, but actually works.

  • When you buy a game on a CD or Cartidge, it's up to you to make sure you continue to own it from then on. That is the same model as GoGs digital downloads. You own it, you make sure you still have it on hand for as long as you want to still have it on hand for.

  • Thank you for taking updates as seriously as you do. Making sure to only update when it is overall a good idea to do so. I'm sure you get no shortage of flak for being out of date. Thank you for being able to stand up to that.

Your well thought out decision process on everything is what reassures me I found a good home. And your open and honest posts about every major decision are nice to read when I initially disagree with a decision made, until I see why it was made.

  • It's hard to have compromat on someone in this position. He has already put himself in a post-reveal state. Trump can't trust someone that he can't ruin. The word "trust" to him doesn't mean having faith or being vulnerable. It means knowing they can't disobey.

  • Ok... but his thing can actually happen... your version of the bad things that can happen for still also posting news to twitter is all imaginary stuff that doesn't happen in real life. Being upset about the direction Twitter and Reddit took and are taking is a totally valid, and honestly the objectively correct position to have about it. But adding in imaginary penalties for using it is not.

  • The whole point of the post is real gambling is rated as totally safe for kids. As long as it doesn't use card or poker chips as imagery. Why is getting kids to actually gamble ok? Why is imagery associated with gambling so much worse than actual gambling for kids?

  • If your stated downside to still using Twitter is that it's a waste of time, is that invalidated if your posting tool posts to all of your socials with one click? Like most professional social media users that have to maintain a bunch of channels with the same content?

Also, who is being dramatic about how important it is to be on or off twitter?

  • Oh, interesting. That's like the one feature I don't really use it for. It's weird how subtle differences in what you were around for can make such big differences in what stuff you use. Like literally everyone I know or knew my age is on Discord. It's our primary social platform. I'm in like 30 servers and active in 10 of them. I'm in the discord for every game I actively play. And every game has one, I just assumed that was a common thing to do.

But seeing peoples comments about negativity and other stuff, I have never seen that on discord. So I guess it makes sense why I didn't get pushed away from it. It's all been incredibly positive and great gaming communities for hanging out in. I can help so many people, usually when I play a game, I get pretty into it. So I tend to know alot about it, and it's nice to be able to help out people with questions about it. I don't know where else people that aren't in a games discord go to ask those questions, usually the discords are pretty huge.
