Sometimes the answer to "why did it go wrong" is "because I need to practice more".

Like, I know how to play the piano, I know how notes and keys work and in theory, I should be pretty good. In reality, I'm just shit at it because I never practiced.

Sort of, yes. There's definitely a difference between how an experienced hotel cleaner makes beds and how I make beds, but I can start cleaning hotelrooms tomorrow, without needing other qualifications. And you could also start tomorrow. And so could basically every other able-bodied adult, and we'd all do roughly the same job (though not as well as the person who's done it for 10 years).

But neither of us can start tomorrow as a plumber, because it requires pre-existing training. That's not an unskilled job.

There's a world of difference between dismantling the very concept of a union (what conservatives love to do), and just doing something that doesn't benefit workers, which makes unions speak up against it (what all the rich love to do).

We got married for legal reasons. It's much easier to get married than to get power of attorney, wills, and all that legal stuff done separately, so one day while sitting on the sofa looking at that stuff, I just said "hmm, you know, getting married is much easier". And that was our proposal.

Afaik, you can't even make a box plot on excel without 3rd party plugins. You can maybe hack together one with a bar chart, and hiding/narrowing parts of it so that it sort of resembles a box plot if you never ever open the data.

Tja, "vroeger mocht het wel" is natuurlijk wel een heel slecht argument. Dat geldt voor letterlijk elke verandering.

Vroeger mocht ik op mn 16 met bier in mn linkerhand en een cigaret in mn rechterhand in de bar staan, waar ik op de brommer naartoe mocht zonder rijbewijs. Dat mag allemaal niet meer, is dat een "fuck you, got mine" of is dat gewoon vooruitgang?
