You missed the part where I said it is for the readers, not the cultists. It is not about convincing these ideologues, it is to warn the readers why the ideas of these cultists are bad.

Yes and no. Millions of people were uplifted from poverty because of globalisation. The technology and wealth we enjoy today is because of international trade. But on the one hand, those who lost their jobs from outsourcing were not duly provided with alternatives, and now they are electing demagogues who are promising them easy answers to complicated issues. And on geopolitics, big countries act with impunity, stepping on less powerful countries. This also added for demagogues to use the lack of international order to rally people into nativism.

If you know what you are arguing and argue with tankies/Nazis in good faith, nine times out of ten they will eventually lose their temper and make fools of themselves. There is no need to be hostile to begin with, they just defeat themselves basically because their ideologies are totally flawed (kinda like in real life).

I don't know about New York, but California calculated that they can't afford it on their own and need federal funding. Problem is, the politicians at federal level is beholden to for-profit medical sector.

Use Bazzite. It is a distro dedicated to gaming and user friendly for beginners. It still has some limitations but it is better compared to others when it comes to gaming. You don't really require more tweaking unlike other distros to make games work.

It is starting to make sense alright. I remember someone telling me that Americans put too much focus on federal politics, even though what goes on in Washington does not necessarily affect them. And the news of American states "Trump-proofing" themselves is also starting to make more sense. This also explains why voter turnout for presidential elections is quite low compared to other democracies, because eligible voters feel they won't be affected as much.

As a non-American, the more i learn about US states, the more I realise that the country is more like a reluctant confederation than an actual unified country.

It is easy to very feel disillusioned with the world, but it is important to remember that there are still good people all around willing to fight the good fight. And it is also important to remember that technology is not inherently bad, it is a neutral object, but people could use it for either good or bad purposes.

This is why I would labour to keep arguing until either I get last word, or the interlocutor clearly runs out of good arguments. You can't reason with people who never reason themselves into an idea to begin with. But you can convince the readers that the idea is dangerous and to keep away!
