  • As a guy, I do recognise that men are disadvantaged in many areas and need to be put on equal footing with women-- like courts disproportionately award custody of children to mothers, regardless of how unfit the mother is to be a caregiver. But broadly speaking from my pespective, women are still at more disadvantage. I used to live in a bad part of my city for many years and have had little to no issues. However, it is a different story from women I spoke who got harrased, and another hit on the head. They said they will avoid going to the city ever again. I remember sharing the accounts of these women to other men, and the men were surprised because their experience is the complete opposite. Women are still seen as weak. And in the corporate hierarchy, men (of tall statures) disproportionately make up the board of directors and executive roles.

  • I will be honest, I thought that Trump will continue with his fascist-adjacent/fascist-lite policies from his first term. Looks like in this term, he is out for vengeance and doubled down!

  • "Master the Art of Trading" by Daniel Lewis. It is amazing for beginners. When I started applying the theories, it greatly improved my chances with day trading. I would recommend applying the theories on demo mode first of your chosen trading platform.

  • Perhaps they’ll have a better chance in WI, MI, and PA.

Those are the places that I mean. Those states are part of the infamous Rust Belt area whose citizens are mostly working class that used to vote Democrats. They are now the swing states that I believe AOC and Bernie could easily win.

  • AOC and Bernie will get into swing states later, if not sooner. Besides, those swing states you mentioned were solidly Democratic until the pressure of globalisation and jobs outsourcing made former Democratic voters had enough, and they had been big fans of Obama. I think AOC and Bernie won't have any problems rallying the swing states.

  • I always see xenophobia and racism as different level in the same category. Like, the former is "milder" and something as I, as an immigrant, could overlook. The latter is far more hateful and intolerant.

  • The far-right in Europe seems to have lost momentum a bit-- for now. The far-right parties in government in Sweden and Netherlands proved themselves incompetent and lost support. The support on German AfD stagnated. Meloni has shown to be more moderate than expected (well, not quite but that's a long story). And Le Pen has been prosecuted, but I think this is not enough to actually kill the French far-right movement so long as the French government still practice neoliberal policies. But I think the major factor that made Europeans think twice now about gravitating towards fascism is after witnessing the shit show in America and Musk's overt election interference in Europe. I should not be laughing, but what a laugh the three months of Trump administration has been!

  • Thank you for the advise. I try not to increase the risk as I have lost money, way before I got the sense to finally read a beginner's book. The book's advise is great and its basic theory works, but mostly for large cap stocks and those with more predictable patterns. There are certain stocks which I day trade because of aforementioned reasons.

  • You are not wrong that it is akin to gambling. That's why I prefer to hold for about fifteen to thirty minutes, or one hour and scalp. Oversimplifying my strategy, I buy the dip and hold until a breakout comes. Hold until the peak goes as far high as it could go. Sell before it dips badly, then buy again. Rinse and repeat. But I must admit this works on certain stocks with more predictable patterns, and the downtime periods at my job allows me to keep my eyes on the screen to day trade. I am not experienced and expert to study the stocks and use technical analysis to predict and automate the process.

  • If one's situation warrants it, day trading could be safer. I work on shifts in a relatively easy job and honestly, I find day trading somehow more controllable and predictable than investing. Plus, I have earned some hefty amounts so far in just couple minutes and hours than working or waiting years for stock value to go up. But i would not recommend day trading to a complete newb like I have been before lol.

  • Will everyone play into it to make a ton of money?

America's decline will come at some point, sooner or later, so I might as well play the game. Short the American stock market before it crashes and World War 3 happens!

  • Thank you for saying this. People are gradually sobering up that Trump and co. know what they are doing. For many years, people are insulting him as dumb. But would a dumb person not be elected twice into the world's most powerful position? If he is dumb, who is the one wielding the power right now? Who is the one lording over us right now? There is the ongoing notion that the concept of intelligence means being smart in broad cognitive aspects. But academics are re-evaluating what intelligence means because we can clearly see that everyone being good at specific things, but not so with the others. Can we call a successful rich banker dumb for being bad at biology and vice versa? A demagogue may not know what "transgenic" means, but he certainly knows what levers to pull to incite the base emotions of voters into supporting him/her. That takes certain skills.

I would still laugh if someone tries to dismiss Trump as "dumb" even after these comments. The principles of Sun Tsu's "Art of War" can still be conceptually applied into everyday life, and one of the key tenets is to never underestimate your opponent. Keep calling Trump dumb, but who is the one in charge right now? Sure, his government policies are irrational amd harm everyone else, but not to himself and his cronies. He just performed insider trading in last two days after all. That still takes certain skills that most of us can't do.

  • Democrats should win every election by massive landslides. Instead, they spent the last several decades bowing to billionaires and providing controlled opposition that suppressed any actual reform.

And now I no longer hear "vote blue, no matter who" slogan since Chuck Schumer helped the Republicans pass on the budget bill.

  • Is there intentional gutting of education in Canada? I think the reason as to why Americans are more susceptible to propaganda is because their education system is being undermined, whereas Canadians are more smarter because of better and free education.
