Ooh, thats sounds right up my alley. Used to love civilization and stellaris and those types of games, but war was always my least favorite part of the gameplay. It gets in the way of my perfect empire.

Yeah my only interaction with reddit now is if I want to read honest discussion of some specific thing without worrying too much if it's astroturfed, I can go to google and search like "wireless earbuds for sleeping reddit". With this change I wouldn't even have that option available, which I consider to be the last thing reddit's good for.

The doors really open wide when you consider that the nominee can be someone outside of the House. I nominate my 14 year old nephew, i think he'd at least do better than any republican in congress.

Having recently read Rise & Fall, yeah. The party started out as a small nationalist club with socialist tendencies to attract the impoverished WW1 soldiers. But Hitler only cared about the nationalist part, and once they had any sort of public presence, Hitler squashed any attempts at doing anything socialist. For example at one point when they were a minority party, there was a vote to take land from the wealthy Junkers, which some members of the party wanted to vote for, because it wouls be popular with their voters. But Hitler refused, because he wanted the Junker's support and money.

There's always more people to peel off, but I think a lot of the centrist republicans have already switched. Anecdotally, my dad, a lifelong republican, chose not to vote in 2016, and voted for Biden in 2020. I don't see a lot of Trump voters switching over after voting for him twice, but maybe some of the moderates who held their votes will decide to vote for democrats in the future

It would only help dems, which is why it's unlikely. Best thing we can hope for is the republican party is pushed further right, which leads to the democrats absorbing even more center-right politicians, and then we have a few decades of milquetoast Democratic dominance until something big changes the dynamic.

TUNIC is another game that you can only play once. I recommend it to anyone who likes elaborate puzzles

I get the symbolism, it just fell flat to me because of how much it felt like a cop-out. To each their own, though.

I feel very strongly about hating the Prestige, but only because of the ending. I spent the whole final act thinking "oh, he's not actually cloning himself, he's just making it look like he is so that he can get back at his rival." That's what the message throughout the movie seemed to be, that you can make normal things look like magic. Kept waiting for that final twist, only to find that actually yes, Jackman's character was using real magic. It felt like a cheap shot that a movie about rival stage magicians had to resort to fantasy magic in the end.

I loved this movie when it came out, but you're right, there isn't much worth in it if you think about the plot or the science for more than 2 seconds. Soundtrack is still one of my favorites, though. Last time I watched it, I was high as a kite, and that made it pretty enjoyable.

Good on ya. The whole book is like that.

Complicated is fine, it was the whole "things are happening on several different floors in your base and everything is happening in real time, so you have to constantly pause to handle everything"

Very excited for adventure mode. The colony builder was overwhelming to me, but I want to support the game, so I feel like a single-character adventure would be perfect

Republicans hold a slim majority, so it would only take a few flips to elect Jeffries as speaker. Whether any republicans are upset enough to flip is anyone's guess.
