There was a yiff.net or something instance that I had to block when I first joined. It wasn’t really that popular I think it just had bots posting furry stuff from deviantart. It’s not that hard to clean up your feed.

Unless you are aware of further developments than I am, Alphonso required permissions and provided a consent dialog so it could not be considered spying or eavesdropping.

Valve is a private company owned by someone who is passionate about games and so unlike other companies with investors, they leave short term money on the table to make the best product for gamers. I get why people like steam. But as a steam hater, if GabeN ever dies and the kids or whoever is heirs are decide to sell to VCs or private equity. That 30% will be just as oppressive as anyone else’s.

Millennials are the largest generation in the workforce, they were born to the boomers the largest previous generation before everything went to piss and birth rates dropped. I think his question was why bother keeping the jellyfin server disconnected when there is no way for the jellyfin server to forward packets for the smart TV.

Anyone can defederate from .ml but they have a lot of users being the dev run site, so many don’t. Or at least that’s the reason lemmy.world has given in the past about why they have don’t federate with hexbear and lemmygrad but still do with ml

Most instances are defederated from the latter two but not the first because that instance is run by the main Lemmy devs (who are communists)

I really loved my Razr as well. It was the best compromise between usability and pocketability. I plan on using this mini until the wheels fall off so when the next time I get a new phone it ought to be much more durable than the first gen.

I’ll be honest. I think the people who want phones that fold out into even larger phones are completely unhinged. Phones are already way too big. My iPhone mini is about the maximum size I’d want a phone to be.

Durability is definitely the down side. I had the 2019 Razr and it was perfect because it folded down into a pocketable size but the interior screen stopped responding to touch after about 6 months

A lot of static site blog generators use markdown to create posts. Lemmy also uses markdown for its’ post formatting. From my understanding what OP has done is that he made this post on Lenmy and has created a front end that basically retrieves the given post from Lemmy and displays it with a more traditional blog style CSS as well as a few other pages that aren’t hosted on Lemmy.

The principles of operation of the fediverse are actually very aligned with the “small government, personal freedom, free speech” ethos that conservatives in the US claim to have.

The culture on most fedi spaces is hostile towards anything less than luxury gay space communism politically but it’s pretty easy to ignore because the power structure of the fediverse is ideal and makes it so you filter out the very worst of the tankies if you so choose.

Now if you are a fascist who is only concerned about dominating others opinions and rights, and only care about freeze peach and not freedom of association and expression I can see how you might find the fediverse objectionable.

The fedi needs more voices from all sides, it does not need fascists.

And it’s ok to strategically vote for the least bad option rather than empowering the most bad option while still acknowledging the system is broken
