I don’t think it’s probably being bottled. I think there are just a combination of people who would rather be unhappy where they are than face a bit of resistance getting themselves out of their rut and people who are fanatically devoted to legacy social media due to sunk cost and have a hard time abandoning their decade old accounts. So whenever the topic comes up they are happy to trash Lemmy rather than improve their situation. They are on Reddit alternatives sub for a reason but they won’t get off their ass because nothing is perfect enough for them
Call of Duty: United Offensive on PC. I just recently came back after a decade of not playing (and over 20 years after release) and the community is still there just smaller and the game is still just as fun
I beat blue shift in just 2 nights and I didn’t really stay up late either so I was surprised when it ended. At least it didn’t linger too long or have a bunch of annoying filler like “On a Rail” but it really felt like it ended in the first act
I agree that Opposing force has so many weapons that quite a few of them don’t get much time to shine. And a lot of them come in the last third of the game. Would have loved more chances to use the sniper and the squid gun.
I think blue shift is my favorite just due to the story but I do have to agree that none of the expansions can compete with the gameplay of the original.
Decay is its own thing. I’ve quite enjoyed almost more as an arcade experience where you can compete for the high score and get some more half life lore than it being its own stand alone thing.
It works really well on iPhone and Apple TV. I imagine that is by designs AppleTV+ is a loss leader to get people to buy into the ecosystem. If you feel you have an ethical duty to support the creators, subscribing and continuing to obtain the content via alternative means is the best bet
I think I’ve generally been less interested in sports as the pro leagues gatekeep more of their games behind multiple paywalls and less interested in college sports as NIL and conference realignment has killed the traditions and the connection between the students, athletes, and alumni.
If you weren’t already a sports fan, I can’t imagine a much worse time to become one
Is the predatory advertising that Apple allows towards children in apps that Apple allows on their app stores going to be stopped by this bill, or does this only affect their competitors?
If you tell the o3 reasoning model to just search the web and give you the top results instead of answering your query it can actually be really useful for obscure queries. I was able to find specific spec sheets for my model of monitor when a google search would only produce the specs for basically any other model the manufacturer made. Even with the model number in quotes
A boycott would work, I just think most Nintendo fans are empty in their threats and will still buy the switch 2 just like all those MW2 players did back then.
I’ve been playing more of my old retail games that don’t require any launcher or drm beyond requiring the disc. It’s nice.
I’m not exactly sure if “xfire on steroids” bloat of steam actually adds anything anymore these days. Steam is nice because my library is already there. Even the friends list has mostly been supplanted by discord now.
I use the epic launcher for 1 thing, to launch Fortnite to play with my son. I don’t want more steam features, I’d rather acknowledge its existence less. Start selling games without DRM that only use the launcher to update and it’s better than steam. That’s the 1 feature it needs.
I’d agree with others that have said to use a framework like Hugo to serve an RSS feed. I wrote an automation using Google apps script to scrape blog pages and manually update the RSS feed but it was more trouble than it was worth. Letting your framework automatically update your feed is much easier.
The Apple silicon Macs are really great when it comes to battery life. If you already use an iPhone it makes so much sense.
I’m still on a 2014 Air. It’s doesn’t work near as good. But still does well enough for me.
There are legitimate complaints against Apple for its iOS/iPad OS AppStore practices, their former hardware upsell practices, their botched AI roll out, and their corporate practices in general. But there really aren’t any legitimate complaints about their hardware, software, or services.
I think mbin makes all votes up or down public. So maybe he’s on an mbin server instead of lemmy
