  • One of the easiest ways to make money when you have mega large income is to try and lower your taxes. Even a fraction of a percent could mean millions of dollars. Take a closer look at Trumps tax cuts and see how much the tax rate of the super rich was lowered. Might have been worth it for old Rudolph to do anything to get/keep Trump in office if it means eventually reducing taxes like that.

  • It’s backwards policy they need to follow. But, if you’re going to follow a backwards policy, might as well do it as efficiently as possible.

Are there any ongoing legal challenges against these book bans that anyone knows of?

  • It seems to me that increasing supply alone is not going to cut it. Are there not a bunch of financial groups with nearly bottomless wallets that enable them to afford to buy up any amount of property to rent or flip at any price they want, even if it means some properties sit on the market empty for a long time? This government policy seems analogous to having people with $100 dollars sitting at a no-limit poker table with a bunch of billionaires who can afford to endlessly put you all in on every bet, so they always bet more than you have and then the government comes in and says they will allow for more games to be played. Wouldn’t the policy be pointless if you don’t also limit the number of games the wealthy players can play?

  • After taking a read through, it seems like section 3 and section 12 can be interpreted to mean that if you have evidence that access to sex and gender education is benefit for the mental health of minors, you can actually enforce social media platforms allow posts to those resources.

I don’t really see why people are saying this would be bad for kids?

And, it seems this bill would also force large platforms to spend more on catching people on their platform seeking to sexually abuse kids. Something that platforms know is so rampant that they are reluctant to put in the appropriate amount of resources at the moment to tamp down on.

If there is a benefit of much less kids being abused, then I think it’s worth passing and then working within that framework to fight to ensure the law is used to benefit and not harm the LGBT community where applicable.

  • The company that made the mosquitoes are still running pilot studies that are apparently showing promise. They haven’t published their exact results, but they are trying to be transparent with the locals so they do webinars to update them on their results. Here’s a link to a webinar they gave a few months ago: https://youtu.be/gdYSLKDUD38
