  • I really hate the "us vs them" bullshit, but it's real. I don't like many of the Democrat policies and am on the progressive side. They suck. But the other side is literal child raping treason Nazis. The fact that I'm saying that with no hyperbole in 2024 is so fucking wild. I wanted the star Trek future with a merit based economy and green alien babes... Not this bullshit.

  • We've known for about a decade now that the Republicans are on the Russian payroll. The war in Ukraine impedes their goals and has stifled their funds. They are traitors to the United States and her people and enemies of democracy.

  • Preventative care is ENORMOUSLY cheaper than emergency care. Hospitals have a mandate to provide life saving care to anyone regardless of insurance or documentation status. When they don't have health insurance, they wait until it's an emergency and either destabilize the hospital system or raise premiums for everyone.

This is another example where "it's just cheaper to pay for it". It's also another position that so called conservatives are against, even though it's far more fiscally conservative to support. Guess y'all can't get past that crab mentality.

  • You're really not getting it, are you? With the assault in Ukraine, the US MIL got the opportunity to clear out some old stock and potentially divert world war 3 into a stalemate. It was great for a bit. The gaza conflict gives the US a greater opportunity to really play to its strengths and pursue a thread of great historic national interest... Bombing brown people.

There's potentially oil there that needs freedom, and nobody exports more freedom for oil than the US

/S ...I think? I'm having a bit of an Idiocracy moment right now.

  • I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted. Mushrooms are awesome. Loads of fun. They don't treat any issues though (other than the issue of not being fucked up).

A research study came out showing that in controlled environments, they found that there were significant changes that could lead to the potential for treatment and I think everyone now thinks that a fist full of mushrooms will fix mental health issues. They won't.

I think you're probably being a bit dramatic about an "accident or bodily harm", but it's not out of the question. Mostly in danger of texting all of your ex's.

But you're right. Go to qualified professionals for help with PTSD. Not your weird uncle or the kid growing shrooms in his dorm room. Want to get high? That is the problem that mushrooms solve.

  • Again, I think you're not understanding how drastic this has been. These are people that have been brainwashed and radicalized. They have become addicted to outrage and pushed into an echo chamber, furthering their descent. It is insidious what happened to these people.

I think I understand the point you're trying to make, but I don't think I can bite. "if they fell for it, they must've been awful people who didn't love you enough" feels very "No true Scotsman" and I can't shake the logical fallacy of it.

No. Trump did not create these people. Thirty years of propaganda did. Fox news playing on televisions in police stations, military bases, and hospital waiting rooms did. Trump was the culmination of a dark and fucked up anti American plot by Republicans, but not really the cause of it.

Still though, I think you may not understand the real gravity of what's occurring. Reasonable people are being corrupted into hate by decades of propaganda. Assholitry is being weaponized into extremism, and all of these people are true believers. This is eroding something at the very basic core of our society, and the election of Trump signaled the start of a full scale war on democracy. Dismissing the efficacy and severity of this is cavalier.

  • It sounds like you're diminishing or don't understand the level of polarity that this has created. My family are now Nazis. Not like a little bit. Not like an exaggeration. Like... "Restore power to the master race and eradicate everyone else"

These are not the people I grew up with. How do I break bread with these people? How do I share a table with enemies of democracy and the Constitution? How many screaming matches and fist fights (yes) do I get into calling them on their bullshit before I'm supposed to give up? How do I avoid taking about politics when they turn literally everything into a challenge or litmus test?

This is anecdotal, so take this all with a grain of salt, but there aren't many people that I've talked to that don't have a similar story. I just don't think you're giving enough credence to the damage that trump and the fascists are doing to the fabric of America.
