Even Mao was born to a wealthy peasant and already in politics 3/4 years after his graduation. I don’t know what was Marx’s exact definition for “proletariat”, but I personally wouldn’t include him either.
but their pricing model really isn’t ridiculous otherwise.
I mean, $1600 for a phone is ridiculous. I’ve had iPhones for the past 12 years, but it never even crossed my mind to buy the latest model. It’s just speculation at that point.
Unless I missed them, I don’t see comparisons to war veterans, at most the second one compares them to civilian survivors.
In any case, I don’t think anyone is questioning the fact that sex workers need way safer working conditions, it was the very point of the first commenter. “Treating them like other workers” was meant in a good sense, as they’re currently treated worse.
When it comes to the TV industry, more streams dont translate into more money into the actors or creators pockets, they only line the pockets of the executives at netflix, hulu, etc.
Depends. More streams means more money for the executives, so they’re encouraged to fund new seasons/new similar projects to get more money, resulting in more money for the creators/actors too. If a series doesn’t get streamed it’ll hardly get renewed and the creators/actors can’t make a name for themselves.
Although as I said, piracy doesn’t really hurt under that aspect since if a series isn’t that known it might help in getting it popular, and if it’s already known it doesn’t need additional incentives for renewal.
Sure, but evolution occurs over millennia, I don’t think it really mattered 5000 years ago when women were nearly slaves in most of the world.
Plus, it’s a system that overall hinders reproduction, while it’s great that it exists in a developed society wouldn’t it be a “dangerous” trait from an evolutionary standpoint? Are there any other animals with systems that dampen arousal? I’m really ignorant about all of this but it’s making me question my little knowledge of how nature works lol
About the second bullet point, it was immediately clear to me the strawberry cat thing was human-made, because the waffle cone it was sitting in was shaped like a fish. That’s not really something an AI would understand is clever.
It’s a Taiyaki cone, something that already exists. Wouldn’t be too hard to get AI to replicate it, probably.
I personally thought the stuff hanging on the side was oddly placed and got fooled by it.
“Only”, I think empathy is key in having nearly all aspects of society work.
I mean, most boys in full puberty would stick it in pretty much anything if they could. The main thing stopping them from doing it aside from negative consequences (as it’s slightly illegal and not really viewed in a positive light), is the fact that you would be harming another person, and (luckily) most people are disturbed at achieving pleasure through inflicting severe emotional and/or physical damage to others. A person completely devoid of empathy or morals would have no issue doing that, and I’m assuming that’s what most rapists are.
I also assume the fact that (normal) people prefer consensual sex to rape is largely due to empathy. Happiness in bringing happiness.
Yes, it does more good than harm. If it didn’t exist a lot of games would be unplayable and stuff like anime and manga would be way less popular in the west.
…but it still does some harm in certain cases. If it was decently regulated (i.e. you can freely download stuff that isn’t currently being sold in your language through official channels) the harms might outweigh the pros, but since an English-speaking person downloading a translated rom for Torneko no Daibouken is still considered “piracy”, we definitely need it as things currently stand.
It honestly depends. It definitely harmed musicians before streaming platforms arrived. And it only harms popular series that don’t need advertising (although you could say if a series is making that much money losing some is probably not much of a big deal).
Acting like piracy is only harmful to the market is anachronistic, but it’s undeniable that, while it does more good than harm, it still does a bit of harm.
I know, it’s been really bad from the start, but it’s not meant to be.
Just because you have a personal view on how the world works it doesn’t mean you have to force it down other people’s throats. You can be religious and just think “God exists, they work like this, this and that”, and act like a normal human being. It’s just that throughout history it’s been used as a tool for enforcing blanket “I know more than you, so you listen to me”.
Because people took the concept of religion and used it as justification for literally everything.
Hell, religion is supposed to be what you think, the whole concept of reading a millennia-old book about unverifiable facts and going “yup, that must be all true” is extremely weird.
