  • Everyone in this thread is approaching this as if OP explicitly mentioned that they were trying to distribute this material through ‘grey-legal’ pirate channels; all they said is their torrent is novel.

So, OP, giving you the benefit of the doubt: (Or, alternatively, for those who stumble upon this post and may wish to archive “legal” data: )

If you’re trying to sincerely archive something that you believe nobody else has access to, and you aren’t just blatantly posting copyrighted material, the Internet Archive will host links to your torrent(s), provided that they are verifiably sound. Even though it isn’t usually thought of as a place to find torrent files, the Archives have a lot of content available through both F2P and P2P, and if your torrent/file is related to other content already hosted there, it could be part of a collection, which would also increase visibility.

If it is a piece of potentially lost media, please contact the Lost Media Wiki project (I believe they have a Discord), and they will be more than happy to help disseminate the content.

  • I just found two great rom hacks online you may be interested in if you haven’t already, Pokémon - Red Version++, and Pokémon - Blue Version Kaizo. While the former stays true to the original with added QoL improvements that make it more playable, the latter provides a challenging rearrangement of the classic that makes me feel like I’m playing Pokémon for the first time again.

  • Nice! I’m getting my Retroid RP3+ delivered today (not the atomic purple colorway, though), and I’ll be swapping out the joysticks for 3rd party Switch-style hall-effect joysticks. That swap should be less than 30 mins, but I really appreciate the inspiration! The sub-$150 retro gaming scene is getting crazy good!

  • Well there’s also microtransactions in 5, which is why I didn’t mention that. It’s mostly just me yearning for the older style of simple flash game that doesn’t really exist anymore. 1-3 are pretty dated at this point, I just feel like 4/5 were in that sweet spot where they started polishing up the old classic style. 6 feels very polished, so it’s probably a bit of cognitive dissonance on my part as well in comparing it to the originals.

  • After playing all the earlier Bloons TD games (shoutout Newgrounds), I settled on 5 being the best. 6 has too many mobile-gameified elements for my liking, and changes a lot that fans of the earlier games might like or not, depending on if you were bored of the older series entries or wanted something new. Also, 5 is still getting OTA updates pushed over 10 years after release! Gotta support that longevity!
