  • French is also used in Belgium, and in Switzerland somewhat. Plenty of vpn locations to choose from.

Also iirc it's just a shitty DNS block just like our piratebay block, so just changing your DNS to anything not hosted in France should work

  • Not using one with my fairphone, it's bulky enough already, the entire back is replaceable for cheap and the frame looks solid. I dropped it quite a lot, including on some hard surfaces, and it's only made a few superficial marks, like it scraped the frame's shiny coating in that spot, but that's about it.

I do use screen protectors though. They're cheap and are not as intrusive as cases. Just changed it after years of service actually, the thing was all fucked up with scratches and missing glass everywhere, and the actual screen under was absolutely spotless.

  • It is a scam if you're buying 27" monitors like op. You can only cram so much dpi in a monitor before you get diminishing returns. I've been playing in 1440p, 27" for a while, and can barely see the pixels if I put my eyes 10 cm away from the screen (and I've been playing arma reforger, so there's been a lot of squinting at bushes through a high-powered scope lately).

I've also used a 4k, 32" screen for a long time at work (in gamedev, so I wasn't looking at excel files either... Well, actually I also was but that's besides the point) and couldn't really tell the difference with my home setup on that front (though I admit 32" at 1440p doesn't look great sometimes, I also tried that for a while). Really, the most noticeable things were the HDR and the ludicrous fps I could get from having a top-of-the-line CPU and GPU (and 128 Go RAM also helped a bit I guess)

  • IIRC Signal stated that they can collect IPs of some users if asked by a judge but that's about it (not retroactively). Which imo also further proves that they actually value privacy without using it as an excuse to make money from people doing truly evil shit

  • Also, making it harder for pedophiles to find each other and groups where they can share their shit is a good way to defeat all the shitty "think about the children" laws that European countries are constantly trying to pass to make encryption illegal

  • IIRC they (or at least their design lead) explicitly stated that since the founders were Diablo fans, something like Hades was basically their dream.(And imo you can already see some of that in Bastion and Transistor so I don't think it was PR talk) So it's not surprising they'd go for a sequel given how well it was received. But I'm sure they'll stop soon enough, they don't seem to be the kind of studio that is in it for the money and I'm sure Hades and Hades 2 are giving them more than enough money to take creative risks in the future.

  • luckily they got up in one piece.

I suppose these are very bottom-heavy, given their use, but I wouldn't have thought riding one would be that dangerous ? What happens when one does that ?

  • Because it's some "tough guy" shit to parade the thousands of people and millions of taxpayers dollars you can order to sacrifice for your decisions.

Also in France, getting invited to the official tribunes is an entire little game of influence and power. Mfs wouldn't even invite my grandmother once as the widow of a WW2 soldier and Légion d'Honneur recipient, just so she could remember her husband one last time, because all the seats were taken by rich assholes and various other kinds of Macron's sycophants.

  • And/or consumers insisting on playing in 4K because "big number" even though fill rate is a huge issue with modern games and you can barely tell the difference on most setups. Which would not be so bad if they also didn't want ever increasing graphical fidelity and 120+ fps on top of that
