  • We have them in Spain. Really useful as my accountant has a copy of mine for my tax filing on their windows machines and I have it installed on my Linux laptop for interfacing with gov sites

  • It doesn’t. But some private trackers will hold you accountable for people you invite and request invites are given to friends/family only.

    Most allow a VPN, AFAIK. Torrents are tracked via your secret key, not your IP address.

  • For me, a private tracker allows for API integration with Radarr/Sonarr/Readarr

    Plus, it’s less likely I get takedown requests on my seed box.

    You don’t need upload in GBs - lots of private trackers will use time uploading as an indicator too

    Overall, probably way better but the future is uncertain and unemployment is terrible. No Spanish governments seem to have the answer to this. We’re far too reliant on tourism and the pandemic hit hard, with some not recovering despite the support given.

    “We're contacting you to let you know about an upcoming action that is likely to affect your Plex Media Server setup. You're receiving this notice because the IP address associated with a Plex Media Server on your account appears to come from a service provider that hosts a significant number of Plex Media Servers that violate our Terms of Service.”

    I pay a few Euro a month for access to Plex with a lot of content. That content is hosted on Hetzner

  • Plex are banning Hetzner IPs because libraries are hosted there and shared with thousands. I see people are moving to Emby/JellyFin because Plex is trying to become the next Netflix app OS trying to clean up what they see as pirated content

  • In Spain we have Bizum - transfer money using a persons mobile phone number (as long as you’re both registered with your bank). Instant and free

  • There’s also a content server built into Calibre but I’ve never used it.

    I use Ubooquity (a Java app with a web interface) that I share books with family and friends using the kindle browser

    Edit: Just noticed a ‘wireless device connection’ option in the Connect/Share menu

  • Connect your ebook device to your PC running Calibre. Start Calibre, and when it recognises your device a new button will show for syncing with the device.
