I'm an anarchist so inherently against governments etc. So I would, I don't comply with cops of my own free will.

Having something taken from me against my will is not complying.

I don't think I ever suggested pleasing everyone just those of us who need safety and protection. Which sadly there's a stunning lack of on fedi except for a few places, the developers of most software running on it certainly do not help though.

I mean, no. The real solution is to move to better software which aren't developed by assholes or to seize the development away from the assholes.

As for the ones that use it the solution there is for admins and users to be liberal with the block and ban buttons.

Yes, the ads are inserted dynamically. I have found, however, in the past that if you use a VPN to download them and set your region to Switzerland for some reason they don't get inserted. You will have to listen to empty silence during the length of time an ad would usually play but that's better than the ads.

Hopefully this trick still works, if not try a different region or I guess it doesn't work any more.

Jesse Singal joined bluesky and was in contact with a well known fascist site about what to do about trans people there.

Then Bluesky moderation rolled out the red carpet and gave him the VIP treatment for it, seemingly only for being a journalist despite his terrible views.

I'm not sure that's a good idea due to them giving the VIP treatment to a known transphobe just because he's a journalist.

There was a post by Elise from here about supporting Pixelfed and Loops financially and I pointed out correctly that the creator of both is a well known cultural appropriator and as such should probably not be supported financially until he stops such behaviour.

Proof was provided via a link to a thread on mastodon since somebody asked for more information. Many people then took to defending him and the cultural appropriation and JAQed off (Just Asking Questions) in public or got extremely hostile to myself and others including a black person who is hopefully still on this instance despite all the increasing incredulity and hostility we had to face.

It ended up with some (which as I said I can provide screenshots for) mocking the very concept of cultural appropriation because of 'natural language evolution' and as such denouncing the very real history and modern day effects of colonialism etc including some other beehaw members such as jarfil which I feel is not within the spirit of beehaw's rules.

If screenshots of this mess are wanted I will gladly provide them, probably after some cropping (if that is okay).
