  • All my games run great. I have one annoying issue that I haven't worked out the root cause of yet. But basically the issue is the computer goes to sleep/black screen whilst I'm playing with a joypad. It obviously thinks the PC is idle. However It doesn't happen with Stardew Valley so I'm thinking the issue is non-native Linux games. Currently I'm playing Dredge which is Windows only so running via Proton in Steam.

  • I think we all know trailers can be deceiving. They can make a poor game look good but, I guess, at the same time make a good game look bad.

As the old saying goes "Don't judge a book by its cover".

  • That's a weird take. Games like Minecraft showed the world that games don't need to visually look good to be good. This opened up the world for indie developers to make really good games utilising pixel art. I'm a big fan of Stardew Valley. In fact I'll call it now that the developer for that game has worked harder than any other developer in any game from the past or present.

  • Weird. I've been trying to find a distro I'm happy with and was setting Fedora KDE up today. Ran though my bookmarks and found no videos played on Twitch. Had to install codecs to get it to work. I hadn't seen this in previous distros. Is this specific to Fedora? Other than this hiccup I've enjoyed it so far.

I liked how straight forward Linux Mint is but prefer KDE Plasma. Plus Mint seems quite far behind in versions.

  • I'm happy to pay for games. In fact the last time I pirated a game was downloading games from groups like myth and class. Subscription is fucking everywhere these days and I sure as hell won't be going that method for my games. I'll be sailing the high seas for sure.

  • I can't say I'm a big fan of the visor look of the Pixels (I say this as a long time Nexus and Pixel user) but the iPhone and Samsung designs are your bog standard smartphone design. At least the Pixel is doing something different.

  • I got the PS4 Pro having not bothered upgrading from a PS3. At this point there was so many good games to play. I was so impressed I got the PS5 a year after launch. I'm really disappointed as the games have lackluster compared to my time on the PS4.

Honestly the only console that I see is worth having is the Switch. Other than that I play on the PC and now Steam Deck.

  • My Google Pixel Bud fell into a bush the other day. Despite knowing its basic vicinity I still couldn't find it. I used the find feature which makes it ring loud but still had issues as cars on the road were too noisy. I had to wait until after 8PM to try again. Thankfully I managed to but it really wasn't easy!

  • Moved to Proton mail from GMail. At the same time I purchased a new domain and got SimpleLogin to create new aliases for all my sites and services. The only site that knows my real address is Proton itself and SimpleLogin.

I also ditched Chrome for Firefox. I honestly prefer Chrome but hate how controlling Google is with Chrome. I also switched to Duckduckgo. I've never actually felt less tracked in a long time as a result. Actually eye opening. I used Incognito so often for Google searches to not be tracked. Now I can search freely without then seeing ads or content related to that search elsewhere.
