Lemmy is how Reddit was in 2010. Size is what degrades the experience, the larger Reddit got the more shit it became. I am hopeful that federation will be the secret sauce that saves Lemmy from the same enshittification as it grows.

Going to shows is a hobby of mine, I go to a lot of shows. But there is only one artist who I will never miss when he comes to town and it's Weird Al.

I cannot express strongly enough to anyone reading this who has never seen Al: do it! It's an elaborate comedy show, you don't have to know a single song to enjoy it. It's always drop-dead hilarious and worth twice whatever you pay for it.

Perhaps with the notable exception of his "Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tours" (there have been two so far, iirc) which are definitely more for the hardcore fans, though still funny as hell.

I don't understand why it's difficult to see the appeal. To me it's just like watching TV, but you can participate.

Every time I interact on reddit, I'm reminded about how superior my experience is every day on Lemmy. So I guess what I'm saying is "I don't see it." Oh, there are some assholes, alright - but they're the exception, not the rule.

Also, the relative lack of bots. Reddit is so overrun with bots that in any mainstream sub a genuine opinion cannot help but be drowned in a sea of corporate sponsored bullshit.

I'm not seeing how this explains why Alito and Thomas would vote for it? Seems like they'd love the idea for the FBI to be able to make "honest mistakes." Perhaps they're going to leverage this to put Biden's dessicated husk in jail or something idfk?

This is a way for the monied class to deflect criticism about the country's various failures to improve the situation for their citizens. Like healthcare, when you suggest that you want to do it like they do it in, say... Scandinavia, you always get a wave of a hand and a vaguely worded "yes well, this country is just too big for that. <insert country here> can only get away with that because of their tiny, homogenous population."

Anybody with an inside track on this story that can explain this? A unanimous decision by this SCOTUS is rare, particularly one that would benefit a minority family terrorized by government goons. I would think Thomas and Alito would be positively salivating at the idea.

No, you're correct, most articles of this type define fertility as "births/women" - whether the outcome is by choice or not. However, there is also a decline in what we might refer to as biological fertility (or "fecundity").

So lemmy.ca and piefed.ca have different feeds altogether when I view them, are they two separate things then? I'm not really clear on how communicating freely between them works. I understand that's how the Fediverse supposedly works, but I have a Mastodon account and I haven't sorted out any way to post on/read lemmy content with it, so I'm not sure what the integration actually means in practical application? Maybe someone could help me understand.
