  • I was deployed and got a box from my home unit that was basically just trash. I think it was supposed to be funny, but it was just a lot of scrap paper thrown into a box. Nothing written on them that was for me. Nothing to signal anything. Just a big box of trash that could have been nothing more than the recycling bin upended into it.

    That was pretty heartbreaking.

  • At this point in my life, almost all of my friends have come from TTRPGs I've joined online. I even moved across the country to be nearer to the core group that I was friends with.

There's something to be said about experiencing (fantasy) hardships that show you true colors of people without having to get into really messy emotional things irl.

    Or I'm just lucky.

  • I ran up to my mom once, completely serious and said, "Mom! I know why all fat people are short. They use up all their skin!"

I felt like a genius until she laughed so hard she fell on the floor and peed a little.

  • Legit hahaha. They taste different. I encourage you to try it. Don't chew, just taste the outer shell for a little while. It doesn't work as well on normal M&Ms because of the size I think.

Blue ones tastes the strongest, followed by green. Yellow and red are hard to tell apart. Brown basically doesn't have an odd taste. Ta da

  • The Spell Brigade. It's unfortunately early access, but it's an up-to-4 player co-op Survivors-type game. I love Vampire Survivors so of course I wanna play co-op. I've been having a bunch of fun with it, both with friends and without.

  • I grew up really active and I've always loved sports and running around. At some point I started having some problems and was passing out in school gym class. Unfortunately my parents were poor, so we didn't do anything about it. Fast forward a handful of years and I'm having seizures and intense migraines. Finally go to the hospital and I'm told "I don't know how you're alive" by my surgeon before I spent two months in the ICU.

I'm grateful for my medications allowing me a somewhat normal living, but I'll never play sports again. I'll never run again. Sometimes just putting on clothes in the morning or walking to another room winds me. Getting told at 26 years old that I'll never be active again broke my heart and now I'm just trying to get by on what little I have while trying to preserve my dignity. It feels unfair but I try not to dwell on it.

  • I also wanted to mention Fields of Mistria. I don't really like Stardew Valley very much, but this one is really pulling me in for whatever reason. It's still early access, but it's got a bunch of QoL improvements from Stardew and the characters are really fun.

  • Just picked up a game called Hellcard that is basically co-op Slay the Spire. It's a lot of fun and the look of the game is really unique, I think. I really love StS so being able to co-op basically the same thing is a ton of fun.

  • I've been a droid/moto fanboy since my first droid phone, but I have tiny hands and the newer models are just too big. It's annoying as can be.

So this last cycle, I swapped to a S23. It's a better size - could stand to be a bit smaller, but I can generally use it with one hand. But I just don't like it. Samsung added a bunch of their own stuff on top of the android stuff, and it's constantly asking for new permissions for different privacy policies and other things.

I'm also so upset that I lost gesture controls. And the fingerprint sensor is a laugh.

On the plus, the camera is really good and the battery life surprises me sometimes. It's a fine phone, but I miss my motos. Still, I'll keep it around for another few years and pray there's something more compact that will come out. Or the razrs will get better.
