I think weird and similar thoughts are sticking for a few reasons.

1. The obvious: Trump was running as the more vigorous and confident candidate and it was working very well, peaking with the debate. But Biden stunned Trump's campaign and stepped down. Trump's team seems wholly unprepared for this. Now Trump is the old guy yapping not about policy, but about how Kamala isn't black. It's cringe.
2. Vance. Trump picked a carbon copy of himself (or a guy pretending to be a carbon copy of him, anyway) but when Vance says these Trumpian things they sound well, weird, coming from a 39 year old guy. For a young guy to be saying that childless adults have less value and should have fewer votes is damn weird. But if Trump said it, it wouldn't even make the news.
3. I think the article is right in that you can call Trump and Vance weird without directly insulting their followers. But I also think another subtlety is that is doesn't distance the left from the right as much as other attacks might. You're not calling Trump Hitler and immediately raising the hackles of a conservative and forcing him to dig in against you.

I use kagi and really like it. I find it worth the money as a business owner and software dev. I feel I'm more productive.

You can set up your own "lenses" which are targeted, customized searches and then use a keyword to invoke them. Pretty handy when you routinely search for obscure topics.

I use paid search engine kagi.com; search results with no ads or "promoted" crap.

Seeing search results without all the advertising is shocking the first few times you do it. It's amazing how much advertising pollution has crept into Google's search results.

When Obama was running the right made a big point out of calling him Barack Hussein Obama.

It it happens, Trump will make Vance withdraw to save face and Vance will probably do it to stay in Trump's good graces.

That will backfire, of course, because he'll turn on Vance and start calling him a loser as he does with everyone that he throws overboard.

I use kagi; love it. As an embedded systems developer I'm more productive with it.

I agree with this. While I have no problem with the idea of a female President, I think every vote is going to count against Trump. A lot of old dems might stay home if they run Harris.

We both know he was using the broken tail light as probable cause for a stop. He wanted him to pull over because he suspected he was drunk or on drugs or simply because he was black with a broken tail light.

As soon as the man didn't pull over the cop got his hackles up and now he was definitely going to stop him. Escalation is the way with cops.
