AI hype is smoke and mirrors

Funny story. When I was in my early 20s myself and 2 friends had been on a major shroom trip, full day affair. We were on the last bus to our small town, and the only other person on the bus was a middle aged stoner.
Just as we're starting to get into town the stoner says:
You guys wanna smoke a joint?

Us: Sure, where you getting off?

Stoner: Nah, we'll just smoke it here at the back of the bus!

Us: Aren't you worried about getting kicked off the bus?

Stoner: Nah man, they call it smoke and mirrors because you can't see smoke in mirrors!

Now, I was still fucked on mushrooms, but even I could tell this man had smoked himself within a razor's edge of his last brain cell.

How? There's loads of actual humans who have been pointing things out for decades at this point, what makes you think the government is going to listen to an LLM when they ignore the experts who've been doing this for ages?

No, so Garuda has a kernel switcher GUI. And I had tried switching to the latest CachyOS kernel, that didn't seem to do anything. AsusCTL still threw the "missing Asus drivers" error. So I went through the process of actually following the instructions and doing it all myself, and hit the roadblock I mentioned above.

Don't remember the exact messages.

Was following these instructions off the official page.

Got to where the orange line is on the screenshot below, and it started throwing up a load of network errors. Again can't remember the exact messages, it's been a month, but it was saying that the Repos were unreachable. And pacman then stopped working entirely until I removed the Repos.

Edit: I'll run through it again tonight and come back with actual answers

Hm. Maybe I'll take another shot. I was following the instructions, got as far as installing the keys, adding the Repos didn't work, it broke pacman.

Doesn't work for kernels newer than 6.13 if I recall correctly. Tried to install it last month. I'm running Garuda Arch, and kernel 6.15, even having the repository active completely borks pacman.

Edit: it's an active project, so keep an eye on it. Or install CatchyOS as it's now standard there.

Edit²: I'm going to have another stab at it, possibly fucked something up? Idk, I was following the instructions, and everything was fine until I added the Repos to pacman.

Well said. Part of the issue I've been noticing is because Google has fucked their search people I know who used to search for answers are more often using LLMs to search. They don't try alternatives, they just give up doing any kind of searching for anything they might want to know.

I wouldn't rely on them or trust any agreement with them any further than I can throw it.

Idk....I can throw a balled up piece of paper pretty far...and frankly I would trust any agreement significantly less than I can throw that....
