A question was asked. An answer was given with a source, and a relevant section. That is not random, nor is it without context. Sure, be sceptical of the source, and even attack parts of it that you disagree with. But you did none of that, just assumed that the original poster and everyone else reading it was illiterate in this subject. Did you even read the paper? It's pretty easy to understand to the layman. Yeah, media literacy is good, but you've gone about it entirely wrong here and look like a fool.

Because we've been fighting off having conditions imposed on us for generations now. The us government tried to enforce conditions on the drinking of alcohol a while back. Didn't go so well. Imposing restrictions in this regard has never worked. People have been trading copies for a very long time now. Hell, the BBC is calling for people to hand over their tapes of early doctor who episodes cos they have lost the originals, and those who have them are still wary of handing them over cos it goes against the very idea of why they made the copies in the first place. You'll also find that most pirates are spending way above the norm for media they love. Myself, I pirate a shit load of music. My biggest expense after rent is music, 90% of that going to digital and physical copies (I'd love to spend more on gigs but I can only to go to so many in a week). I literally spend more on it than I do on food and utilities.

At the risk of restarting a dead thread, you're an idiot. We have issues with predators attacking livestock and pets here in Australia too. We still don't just have guns sitting out ready to be used at a moment's notice. Cos we're sane. This was literally my job for 5yrs after I left university. We had a massive checklist of shit to get through before we even resorted to guns. Why? Because guns solve nothing and cause great harm to the community. There are so many management techniques you could employ before going all yippee kiyay with your guns. Guns should always be a last resort. Proper management not only protects you and your pets, it also helps the local ecosystem. I'm sorry you're so narrow minded that you can't see the forest for the trees. You're all "I'll protect mine at whatever cost", which is the reason why America is so entrenched with guns and has the very real problems that they are facing every day with no reasonable resolution in sight.

Yeah, that wasn't my experience in Australia. Every Samsung I ever had had google apps and Samsung apps preinstalled. None of the rest. And all those baked in apps were easily disabled if they couldn't be deleted (I couldn't delete YouTube, but I could disable it so I could run Vanced and not have the normal YouTube app be the default). I suspect that even though you bought a unlocked phone, it came with a bunch of shit baked in cos you are in the US. There's a lot of shit that is copacetic there (more generally speaking than just phone related) that doesn't fly in the rest of the world.

As I said, there are other reasons not to use Samsung devices, but all these stories I've gotten in this thread have not matched up with the experience I had in over 7yrs.

That's the great thing about unions, they are all intertwined and will support each other. I can't remember which country it is, but there's a current furore going on in Europe with Tesla workers. Dockworkers etc have stepped up and are supporting them in their strike by doing a go slow on Tesla imports etc. Similar things have happened in the past too. Say steelworkers go on strike. If shit is bad enough, you'll have members of the coal workers union, mining union etc also do their bit to help screw the company screwing the steelworkers with the aim of getting a proper resolution for the steelworkers. That's why you should join a union. They don't just advocate for proper conditions for just you and your fellow union members in your industry, they advocate for proper conditions for all workers in your industry, as well as workers in other industries, regardless of if they're members or not (although, obviously, you will get way more support if you are a union member).

Nah, I'm okay with this type of union busting, even as a fully paid union member. Yeah, those staff are out of a job, but with the help of the union they're a member of, they'll find another job pretty quickly. Especially in this example as the union will consider it a win and want to capitalise on the free promotion. One less location trying to screw their staff is a win in my book too.

Yeah, and it was an ongoing issue with Reddit. Probably still is. Sure, small, niche subreddits that had active moderation were generally free of the scourge. But it was quite a common phenomenon across the site, in my experience.

There is such a thing as country influenced hip hop. Gangstagrass comes immediately to mind as a band doing that that I quite like.

Because even when hitting centre mass, a bullet isn't a guaranteed way to kill someone. Look at combat during the recent Iraq war, way more people got injured than killed due to bullets. Do you think they were aiming to just wound the people shooting at them?

Nah, Samsung didn't ruin their phones, carriers in the US did. Don't have any of that bloatware or ads on em down here in Australia. That being said, there are other reasons to avoid Samsung...

The person you're replying to said nothing about believing it, that's an inference you've made. Cos they have made a good point, listening to one side only does cause an echo chamber effect. And I encourage everyone to read as much as they can from all aspects in matters like this, but draw your own conclusions. War isn't simple, it's complex, dirty, and downright deplorable. It's why so much study into past wars is undertaken, even those in recent memory that were well documented compared to ones that happened long ago. A lot can be learnt, be it statistically, economically, culturally etc.
