Sunshine laws for congress (Such as the Legislative Restoration Act of 1970, and the Government in the Sunshine Act of 1976) mandated transparent voting and meetings. I think you can readily imagine the issues that could come about if your own vote was public, in the case of congressional voting some things change but importantly it means that a lobbyist can nearly guarantee a return on investment. It should come as no surprise that the amount of lobbying groups and money in lobbying has massively increased since the various Sunshine laws passed. It also has led to increased partisan voting since now the parties can give the boot to someone crossing the aisle.
everything gotta have some weird nuance these days though. Can't just have the green lanterns either, gotta have red, blue, yellow, white, black, etc. Can't just have the speed force, gotta have a whole cosmology there too. It's a fuckin mess.
Reagan led the charge but there was also folks like Gingrich and Armey doing stuff like the Contract with America (Heritage Foundation endorsed) and pushing to never let the dems have a win, and always oppose whatever they do.
I'm of the opinion that sunshine laws also fucked things up but that's a whole other discussion.
I pulled out my copy of the cookbook just for reference, I keep it on my bookshelf next to my copy of the Poor Man's James Bond 2. The 4 chapters of the book were "Drugs", "Electronics, Sabotage, and Surveillance" (The shortest), "Natural, Nonlethal, and Lethal Weapons", and "Explosives and Booby Traps".
I feel like "Drugs" would get expanded upon to showcase more modern stuff like Meth, Fent, Kratom, etc. The electronics/sabotage/surveillance chapter would double or triple in size easily, becoming the biggest in the book owing to our modern times and definitely include info on anonymizing yourself online along with in rallies/protests/riots, using the dark web, and more. Weaponry would get a nod towards 3d printing, maybe stuff on neutralizing gas for protestors/rioters. Explosives and Booby Traps wouldn't change too much.
Fired his PR guys and it was downhill from there.
