I honestly don't understand the appeal of Robert Jordan. I made it through 50 pages of The Eye of the World before throwing it into the nearest little library. By then I had uncovered every fantasy cliche known to man, made even worse by the writing style of a 12 year-old.

C'mon, stop it. We Americans are bad at many things, but no one can refute that Americans have created some damn good beer over the last two decades.

This is a strange take. It's okay to be a parent that wants alone time, or time away from their kids. It's no different than wanting time alone from any family member. It doesn't mean you don't love them, it means you enjoy being with yourself and fulfilling your own wishes sometimes. I have a really hard time believing anyone who says they love to be around a toddler 24/7. It's just not humanly possible.

What is this weird Lemmy world? Are you seriously saying that you'd wear a mask at the pump (already a huge LOOK AT ME I'M SUSPICIOUS problem), use someone else's car, drive to where your car is parked, then siphon the gas into your car....all to get a free tank of gas?

I'm giggling at the idea of anyone rioting at this woman's trial over skimming free gas and charging her friends for it. It'd be this one dude running around punching the air and screaming something about our corporate overlords.

People will tend to look for logic and patterns in the most senseless and chaotic of actions. We have no idea if he suffered from depression, was bipolar, had debts, or some serious health issues. People feel more in control when they can attach some nefarious (read: controlled) cause.

Looks like we can't agree with the (unanimous) SCOTUS decision without invoking the downvote brigade. But for all of those wishing for Trump to be kept off the ballot, consider what will happen in four years when Texas comes up with some bullshit reason to keep the democrat frontrunner off the ballot.

I understand and completely agree that Trump started an insurrection and deserves to be kicked off the ballot. But we all know Texas, Kansas, or whatever other godforsaken backward red state will not play by the rules next time.

I'm currently reading the Color of Magic right now and it is...painful. I know, I was warned, but I ignored the pleas. Now I'm kind of stuck reading this book that feels like it was written by a snarky 8th grader on a bus ride home after school. I truly hope the books get better.
