I do kinda like the idea of some kind of curation, but I'd like the algorithm to be transparent to me, so that I can go in and see what's been filtered out, for instance, and why.
Some guy on Mastodon a while back was working on a service that'd give him a digest of daily posts he'd missed from his feed. I could see the value in something like that, as long as you control the algorithm yourself.
I think I'm still stuck on the idea of a daily edition. A finite selection of post or articles and maybe a funny pages section too. Like a newspaper in the olden days.
Maybe. It's weird because they want Russia represented due to human rights activists there could eligible for recognition, but these activists would almost certainly always be working against the government and therefore inviting ambassadors, who are government representatives, feels like a really odd decision.
The decision by the Nobel Foundation to invite all ambassadors to the Nobel Prize award ceremony, in accordance with previous practice, has provoked strong reactions.
The basis for the decision is that we believe that it is important and right to reach out as widely as possible with the values and messages that the Nobel Prize stands for – for example, through last year's clear political message with the peace prize awarded to human rights fighters from Russia and Belarus as well as to Ukrainians who work with documenting Russian war crimes.
We recognize the strong reactions in Sweden, which completely overshadowed this message. The board of the Nobel Foundation, therefore, choose to repeat last year's exception to regular practice – that is, to not invite the ambassadors of Russia, Belarus and Iran to the Nobel Prize award ceremony in Stockholm. As before, all ambassadors will be invited to the ceremony in Oslo.
But on the other hand, some rando on the twitter told me that everyone who's gotten a vaccine now has a bluetooth address that can be picked up with a scanner.
Who am I to belive? Peer reviewed science or some guy who swears that he's totally telling the truth?
Yes, but I guess the improvement is that you can save some power from the wind so you can sail when it dies down.
We used to have another solution to keep the ship moving with no wind, but stupid woke culture put a stop to having hundreds of galley slaves chained to oars on the lower decks.
Well, the Japanese don't love to acknowledge their war crimes either, which btw also ranked pretty high on the Evil Fucked Up Shit scale.
If we're to see Hiroshima aftermath, then we should also mention stuff like The Rape of Nanjing for context, which alone had an approximate number casualties similar to the two bombs.
Meta threatens to leave when they're not allowed to gobble up all the users private data.
Apple threatens to close their services because they can no longer guarantee the privacy of their users, from anybody, if the government forces them to build in back door to snoop on citizens.
Government all over the world are trying to outlaw end-to-end encryption and Apple is taking a stand here, because encryption backdoors means an end to legal privacy.
And you probably thinking "well, if you haven't done anything wrong, you've nothing to hide and nothing to fear", right?
Well, who's to say what's wrong? I personally don't think homosexuality or atheism is wrong, but they're capital offences in some countries.
So much for Elons new AI company.
Wasn't that supposed to be this?
Like a ChatGPT that isn't "woke", so it can be a safe space for fascists, homo/transphobes and misinformation enthusiasts.
Invent a language, then teach it to a stranger against their will.
