It behaves closer to a regular mechanical pencil for cursive, but there is some difference. Ngl I use mine for maths and numbers and diagrammes so I don't run into that issue a lot

China actually already has a system in place that kinda works for their existing video game restrictions - your accounts are connected to your social ID, or to a social media which in turn is connected to your social ID. Alternatively I wouldn't be surprised if like what they do is connect your SIM card to your national number (which is possible - some countries do it for 2FA for government stuff and banking) which is what they use to control internet usage

...of course it does little against the tried and true method of "using your mum's phone/ID for games"

I see your blackwings and I raise you my mechanical contestant - the uniball kuru toga. The rotating lead gimmick actually works pretty well and the elite has just such a nice weight to it because the barrel is this nice knurled metal thing (I think the advance upgrade is also metal, but I don't have that one to compare)

Speaking of uniball, while I'm normally a fountain pen adherent, my go to non-fountain pen is the uniball eye. Such a surprisingly nice pen for the price, and while it's not exactly the same, because it's a liquid ink roller ball it's still much nicer to write with because you don't have to apply pressure to make it write.

It's also better for your hands if you do a lot of writing! You're not constantly applying pressure like you are with a ballpoint so your hands don't get as tired

Seconding Uniqlo - it's also got the bonus of being sort of "effortlessly fashionable" (especially if you're a woman) which is great if you're the sort of person who gets super anxious over social interactions but at the same time have no sense of what looks good.

It's a trend that's popping up in quite a few places - it also happens in 3d printing. Some of the biggest companies out there still do kickstarters for their more risky products under the guise of "trying to figure out demand"

Creality you're like the name in entry level 3d printers and people have been clamouring for you to release a new product for years. I'm pretty damn sure you can afford to take a risk on a concept that people have been wanting for years.

Here's an article from a Norwegian site and it doesn't mention anything about a ban, just the 1 mil kr fine per day and like, NRK is the government run news media here - I somewhat doubt that a government agency would give some American site that sort of news before their own national one

man what the hell is that article on? It starts off explaining the pot roast principle which ok that makes sense (it's that we often do things not because of logic but simply we were taught to do so by our parents), but then it says that a message to take away from the story is that "persistence is a virtue" which I mean I guess but you're kinda missing the point? But then in the very next sentence where it says "sometimes things we take as fact are just superstition" it goes "and we should consider prayer as a healthcare alternative" and compares listening to only medical science as like cutting the ends off a pot roast. Not like "superstitions hang around for a reason though and there's perhaps some minor psychological value in these harmless cultural things" or "people who strongly believe in something tend to report more positively in negative times" or even god forbid "have you considered that prayer is like cutting pot roast ends?", straight up "have you tried asking God for help? When was the last time you did that huh? Why are you treating God like a teabag that's pretty ungrateful you dick"

I'm guessing you probably didn't mean for that to be the message (this article is weirdly the first to pop up when you google the term) but uh, maybe you should vet your articles? Unless you're really trying to say we should try praying for lemmy to succeed

I've actually been trying to figure out if I could print out an entire pen, sans the nib and feed (and convertor - I want to make something that's accessible, not something that'll drive people mad trying to make it fully watertight or that'll get me sued by TWSBI lol). I'm pretty confident in my TPU skills for gaskets and this is also a project to test out how robust my CAD skills are, because I want to make something that other people can alter. Like want a pen with an unusual grip for accessibility reasons? Or want to make your own knockoff Additive Pens with resin? Or just want to muck around with designs? Go ahead!

Sounds like you're kinda more after something a little less hard? Asimov is very much the quintessential "this could've been an essay" hard sci-fi author (though I will say, imo The Mule is a great character)...but then again I'd argue most hard hard sci-fi is like that. It's either an ethics or a speculative engineering/biology essay under the veneer of a story. It doesn't matter much in a short story because you don't have to set up anything beyond your core theme but stretching out into something more than 50 pages long can be a bit much for some people.

If you're after something longform from him that's not so...jargony, have you tried Caves of Steel? it's his attempt at writing genre fiction and at least I think it's pretty good. It's a murder mystery set in his general universe (though way before the Empire and everything) and tries to tackle the more social aspects and themes behind robotics.

I got sent to some nutjob's site where he tells you all about the superior space technology NASA refuses to use called slingshotting the rockets into space. I say nutjob because most of his site is dedicated to conspiracy theories and holy shit it's still active he's even got a youtube now

It's very probably going to function like how Wordpress and ActivityPub already functions - as a way to let people look at and interact with your blog from a Mastodon or other instance. And if Wordpress is anything to go by it'll also probably be limited to self hosted/paid accounts rather than something that everyone can have so the bot/spam/ghost account worry is kinda moot

If you're looking for watertightness and optical clarity, have you considered looking at Taulman T-glase? One of it's advertised features is that it has very little thermal shrinkage and can be tuned to be watertight for FDA approved food purposes. It's PETT not PETG but that's not too different from PETG IIRC. I've personally been looking to get a hold of some for my own 3d printed fountain pen experiments

Also there's a chance it might be an issue with the sliced model itself, not your filament settings. Cura can do some funky things sometimes with holes

in a car? during summer? Ngl that sounds more like a temperature issue than a UV one. PLA doesn't degrade that quickly and it can get pretty hot inside a car during the summer
