So does every Tumblr blog! Just add /RSS to the end of the URL in question. This also works in conjunction with other link modifiers like tags so for example if you want to follow an artist on Tumblr and only see their work and not anything they reblog, or you only want to see stuff from a certain fandom.
Keep in mind that this only works with blog links that look like [blog].Tumblr.com or [blog].com, not tumblr.com/[blog]. it also doesn't capture tags which is kinda half of tumblr's main form of interaction, but I think if you're interested in that you're the sort of person who actually uses Tumblr and doesn't just want to keep tabs on one or two artists you really like. Then again that could actually just be an interface thing and an actual RSS feed reader would show them as opposed to my kinda jank thunderbird setup
(I think you can also do this the other way around and turn RSS feed updates into Tumblr posts using like IFTTT, but I have questions for you if you're doing that for something that isn't an update blog)
...or you could wait and see if automattic ever does good on their promise to add activitypub integration into Tumblr.
Also on the subject of Tumblr adjacent things, ao3 also has an RSS feed button. For both authors, fics, and tags. Haven't used it in years but it still works according to the random author updates I get.
One downside/senario I'm worried about is what happens when something really bad happens. Like illegal authorities-get-involved bad? Like leaking sensitive government information or a homegrown r/ jailbait situation that the media catches wind of. Stuff can't be permanently deleted, at least not without nuking everything around it...which people might be tempted to do. And that's basically turning anything seriously incriminating into essentially an infohazard that could get you nuked because you're in an instance where someone else from it commented on the thing or something. And any attempt to and defederation from the offending parties probably isn't the hard shutoff that the authorities would be demanding in such a situation. Even if nothing effectively happens to the greater Federation, it would be a PR nightmare that would probably kill any future attempts of evangelising the platform in the future, especially to bigger communities looking for a new place to stay.
Places like Reddit have mods and admins that worst case scenario, can be the scapegoats. Lemmy doesn't really have that layer of protection because of how esoteric it is to the layman.
I get it's some form of tracking and that scares people here, but I keep on thinking there must be a way to set up cookies or whatever the right term is so that when you click on a link you'll automatically get sent to the Lemmy post through your specific instance. I would suggest an extension but I'm personally of the opinion that any site that needs a third party extension (like say, RES or Xkit) to fully work isn't a well designed site (not to mention it makes evangelising harder because now you gotta sign up for a new confusing thing and download this extension)
Like everyone's screaming "use smaller instances!!!1!" But like, this issue pretty much tells you "you should be using the same big instances for the best sharing/viewing experience"
True, but I always get the vibe from tise auction listings that they were originally for much more - they're always set up nice and pretty with backgrounds and super nice shots and everything
Yeah - one of the great things about place was the sheer scale of the community. If you have a broad range of even pretty obscure interests, there was a chance you could find most of them on there burried away. In the previous few iterations, I must've helped like twelve different little things ranging from super well known video game murals to tiny little pixel art for obscure Japanese artists.
In the '22 place, I helped lead a team to make a tiny 15×15 thing for our favourite kinda forgotten character from a game and it was an uphill battle but it was memorable. Here? That tiny 225 pixel face is the only rep for genshin impact and I miss the fun of planning something because it's just me. Sure I could make something big (and I have expanded it to include other characters) by myself...but like, I want to make stuff for other groups and fandoms too, and I'm the only person who'll do it.
Don't get me wrong, the canvas is fun and it's not really the hoster's fault, but it's missing the collaboration part
I think some of them are still still hoping for that sweet payout
I was trying to find a specific beanie baby I had as a kid the other day and all the results were for these pristine in box listings that I don't think anyone's given a second glance in years going for like ten or twenty dollars
...man I just want the dumb jingly elf I had as a kid I don't really care about the tag
Ah, must be client side then. Well, tbh the spoiler isn't even something from the game - it's something we only learnt about way back in the Waking Titan ARG
It's very much a game that's built around finding other people and building a community - that's why the various player made factions are given the official thumbs up and everything. Just a big ol' sandbox.
If you want something with more character and story, I'd go to the expeditions - they're unfortunately time limited (though HG usually reruns all of them at the end of the year), but they all offer a self contained story outside of the main plot that takes place in a smaller space and usually contain more characters and give your character a role that's actually integrated with the larger world (like for example, in one of them we were explorers with the cartography guild out to document a worm cult). Also they're usually full of interesting gameplay restrictions to use and abuse which is fun. Imo it's the most interesting thing the game has to offer.
ULTRAKILL has a phenomenal OST. Fast paced and very breakcore for a stupidly fast FPS set in hell with crunchy PSX graphics, but still with these weighty almost sad moments of calm.
On the complete other end of the spectrum, Project Moon. They've done two turn based deck builders that force you to slow the fuck down and read, and are also a fan of using "actual" songs (made a group called Mili) for boss fights that are slow, melancholic, and Really Good. they've also done the main themes for Both Games but idk if they strictly count as 'OST'.
Also I know Persona gets all the love, but the mainline SMT series has some fucking bangers too, just more in the Club and/or Hell yeah tubular bells genre
If you like DOOM's OST, have you looked at ULTRAKILL? It's similarly stupid high energy (though maybe less metal and more breakcore) for a similarly stupidly fast pace bloody shooter set in Hell
Yeah I kinda feel like the first step would be to figure out how to do that rather than trying to sidestep the issue
There's ways to cut stuff up without actually handling a knife if it's like a physical issue - those little mini food processors for example are really good for most veggies (they struggle on harder or stringy things but for onions and garlic and whatnot they're pretty good)
Tbf...>!it literally was. It's just gone completely tits up!<
Owlbears are monstrosities not beasts and therefore the druid probably shouldn't of been able to shapeshift into one (I think. I've never actually played as or with a druid)
I mean I guess a bottle of fish sauce is technically easier to store than a jar of oil and fish but imo that's a little silly
Also kinda different flavour profiles
Also idk about the newer ones but the old ones last forever. You might need to change their battery but that's not too hard. I got a kindle keyboard that's been going strong for over a decade now.
Also kindles work fine with calibre, you just need a different file format. Mine can read PDFs! (I do not reccomend reading PDF scans on a kindle)
Anchovies! If you're only using anchovies for pizza and putanesca you're missing out on so much! Pop one or two of them in your tomato sauce right around when you fry the garlic before adding the tomatoes. It won't make them taste fishy but it will give it that extra something. Smush them and put them in your glaze! In your dressing!
Also less a single ingredient and more a mindset - booze. You need to use more booze in your cooking. I don't just mean "use more wine", I also mean different types too. Sake in your teriyaki, beer in your beef stew, cider in your pie filling, brandy in your stroganoff, kirch in your (sweet) pie, use it! Istg so many recipes I see online omit the booze or call it optional and it hurts me so much.
Here's a fun one - you know the concept of regular polyhedra/platonic solids right? 3d shapes where every edge, angle, and face is the same? How many of them are there?
Did you guess 48?
There's way more regular solids out there than the bog standard set of DnD dice! Some of them are easy to understand, like the Kepler-poisont solids which basically use a pentagramme in various orientations for the face shape (hey the rules don't say the edges can't intersect!) To uh...This thing. And more! This video is a fun breakdown (both mathematically and mentally) of all of them.
Unfortunately they only add like 4 new potential dice to your collection and all of them are very painful.
You mean appliance bulbs? They're a different thing all together
...please don't tell me you've been putting regular incandescent bulbs in places that need appliance bulbs
I'm sorry, Speaker for the Dead is circling the drain? Complete change in tact sure, but I'd hardly call it bad
Xenocide on the other hand...
Wait these are new for most people? They've been around for years where I live
I honestly I don't get why people don't just, y'know, join instances that are more local. It would solve the "everything's in a different language!" Issue too because now the main foreign language is, y'know, one you speak.
Or - yeah I did the same I joined a Finnish instance because I live right next door and it seemed like the logical thing to do
and screw Denmark
