  • YouTube has ads and google’s new WEI api will force browsers to comply.

Web Environment Integrity (WEI) is an api that will validate your browser and hardware to ensure you’re not tampering with webpages in any meaningful way.

extensions and unapproved browsers will be gutted.

  • There’s no way to say this one way or the other until it’s implemented.

However to “verify” a system from a hardware level to any decent level of accuracy would require kernel level access.

Technically you’re correct, until you’re not.

  • Chromium is controlled by Google.

Browsers down steam on Chromium will either pull from chromium or fork from it.

They hold >75% of global browser market share.

They make a change, like enforcing Web Environment Integrity API, you either comply or your competing chromium browser will.

  • Web Environment Integrity API, an API that will gather metadata about your system setup, hardware and software, as well as if you have any extensions installed. Only WEI compliant browsers will be able to view WEI compliant webpages.

    Jesus - no

RadioShack was a niche tech store with niche tech stuff. No need to wait an absurd amount of time for random stuff online.

  • Google broke on Firefox for a while a day ago for me. Went to some other search engine.

    Jumping from applications is not.

teamspeak became Skype which became discord.

And many of us did leave Reddit. I didn’t even leave because I cared about the protests or what Reddit was doing. I left because many posts were deleted, people left, subreddits became abandoned.

Lemmy became better than Reddit basically overnight.

  • The likelihood that windows doesn’t have a back door for the US government is irrelevant.

No windows user can guarantee every part of their OS is clean.

Linux users have the advantage of Open Source.

If you run Linux, you can audit the code. Can’t do that for windows.
