  • I love Lemmy users bashing on Reddit as if Lemmy is any better. Both are pretty authoritarian left. Though I don't have enough experience here to speak to the moderation, but given time I'm sure it'll be just as bad.

  • Hahaha now I'M a transphobe? Your hyperbole is off the scales. I don't give a crap about T people one way or the other. I barely think about them. Hateful? Jesus christ. Get a grip on reality. Though seeing much time you spend on this website it's a fair possibility the internet is your reality.

My heart breaks for you people. You have zero interest in any opinion that doesn't perfectly align with your own. You willingly, and gladly, live in an echo chamber.

  • This is my biggest problem with the left. You have to agree with all their opinions. Identify with all their beliefs, or you're a nazi. J.K. Rowling is a good example. Donated millions of dollars to worthy causes. Huge feminist. Staunch leftist. But disagree with one subject regarding .000001% of the population (T people stuff)? Boom. She's a bigoted, nazi transphobe.

This is a small example of cancel culture, but there's this bi-annual video game speed running marathon called Games Done Quick (GDQ). They raise a few million dollars every six months for the Cancer Foundation and Doctors Without Boarders. When that new Hairy Potter video game dropped, not only did GDQ ban that game from participating in their event, they banned ALL Hairy Potter video games.

  • Nothing after number 1 is relevant. As long as you are nominated by the current POTUS, and are confirmed by the senate via a simple majority, you are legitimate.

As far as number 1 goes, which non-elected presidents appointed justices?

  • That ending is hilarious to me. Societies just don't do a compete 180° over the course of a year or so. Changes at that level are very, very slow. Taking centuries in some cases. But all of a sudden, they have taxes, social programs, environmental programs, etc...

I know Ferengis are portrayed as non-violent, but I would think makes such rapid, unpopular changes would lead to some level of violence/civil uprising.

  • The government makes a lot of things worse when they get involved. I trust them as much as I trust corporations.

Also stop the hyperbole. I'm not one of your fellow communist. Though I'm on Lemmy so I don't blame you if you assumed as much. America is one of the most well off countries, and the standard of living is far better than most countries. Not all, but most. It's far from a "shit hole".

  • I'm usually not in favor of government intervention/overreach, but it's not like corporations are going to do anything in our favor, and many people need specific medication to, you know, be alive. So +1 for the federal government.
