I think it would be prudent to look for 32 GB of RAM. 16 is comfortable, and 32 is good for if you will be working on larger projects.
DDR 5 is the current standard
I wouldn't go under 500gb for a SSD. Windows 11 64 requires 64 GB of storage. More than 1 TB isn't bad to consider, but you can also shuffle massive projects off to external storage.
Do not use a HDD. Use SSD or NVMe. NVMe is more expensive.
USB 3.2 is the most recent iteration of the USB standard. It's OK to settle for 3.0 and no USB C if cost is an issue. You can buy adapters, and unless you are constantly moving huge files via USB, it doesn't matter.
If the drives are good, maybe. If not, you are looking at buying 4 drives from their compatibility list.
Do you already have a storage server? I'm running TrueNAS on a computer I retired a few years ago. I have 4 1TB drives in it and am about to install a used SAS card I got from eBay for $40 to add up to 6 more. It should give me 8tb of space.
Me too, but I couldn't get through Great Glass Elevator. I try my best to voice all the characters, and I couldn't get through the president's phone calls with China, even toned down.
This is what frustrates me about HP laptops. The biggest issues users see with them could be resolved with a hard reset to clear chip states, but you have to perform a hard reset by powering off, unplugging, and holding power for 30 seconds. A shut down or a restart doesn't fully reset all chips and network/audio issues seem to persist.
Not bad ideas, but the forced pop-up asserts that there must be something sensitive about a user's post. I think maybe providing a few categories of sensitivity with their own drop-down boxes to select from.
These are terrible options, but for sexual they could be:
Suggestive - from making sexual motions or comments to our model above
Nudity - non-pornographic, but nipples or genitals are seen
Porn
Violence seems to be a major category. Now sure about how to break it down
Gore
Minor Injury
Medical procedure
Violent - these are bad options, I said
Politics is something people complain about, but I don't know if that should be considered sensitivity or if we should attempt to break it down.
Abuse
This one is hard because by only selecting over category you rule others out. Is my abuse less than yours?
I think some communities might suggest tags, but you wouldn't be able to catch still of them. We don't have the resources for object recognition, but that is all I can think of for a fourth option.
I feel like, if done right, we could have a system of tags we could assign a comfort level. One could select the tags that they don't want to see, and possibly set their preferences to see what they want. Maybe a slider from absolutely not to always ok, and then move things as they see fit.
Done right, a person can control the content as they prefer.
Implemented poorly, and we have 4chan at the reigns of the MPAA.
I think this is a good conversion to have. I enjoy images of women, but everyone doesn't. I also don't feel it's fair to compare these images to porn and play morality police.
It makes sense to break NSFW into a handful of tags and allow more granular control. The problem historically was that the number of tags kept growing and became hard to classify.
The number of tags wouldn't be much of an issue, but then it comes down to the OP to tag appropriately. Even with generic NSFW filter turned on, I still occasionally see genitals in my feed.
We could allow users to tag, but I see brigading and other abuses possible here. Appointing power users also might work, but that has its own list of issues. That also would mean that all this information would need to synch with the post.
I'm using truenas for my homebrew setup. I need to buy 2 more drives and start planning on rebalancing my setup, but this is how it looks right now.
