  • My favourite

    hey thanks :-)

  • It's funny how people here take memes really seriously and are offended that an AI could, in the future, create shitty memes.

  • AI is only good at remixing what’s already done

    That's what memes are.

  • The last time I had overextrusion was due to overuse of matte filament (abrasive). The hole of the nozzle was too large. Since you only have this issue on one of your printers, have you checked the nozzle?

  • I tried many things but most of the gcode instructions are not compatible with my printer. Nowadays, with modern firmwares, you only have to add a M600 instruction ("change filament" instruction). After some attempts, the "pause at height" script in Cura, with the M25 instruction, is what worked.

  • Thanks ! I have tried this in Cura ("pause at height" script instead of "change filament"). You can select the pause gcode instruction. Most of them does not works... but one of it works!! My first two-color print!!

I still have to manage how to purge without making a mess on the bed.

  • No, that's not that clear for the moment.

Let me explain the French case :

    • Webedia is a big company that owns most of the famous French websites (jeuxvideo.com , etc.). All these websites have cookie walls with an alternative : a paid subsription. What they say, is that the website is now accessible with subscription only. However, if you accept cookies, you'll get a discount (free access).
    • The CNIL (a big French governemental entity) tried to forbid this. If someone reports a website, it's for this entity to take action. There is no need to report Webedia, the CNIL knows already :-)
    • The Conseil d'Etat (juridical entity of the French gov) said that "non", it's OK for Webedia to use such paywalls. The CNIL can't forbid Webedia to use them.
    • The CNIL asked the jusrists at the European level... here we are. We still don't know.

Here is a French website where the CNIL explains this :
    https://www.cnil.fr/fr/cookie-walls-la-cnil-publie-des-premiers-criteres-devaluation

  • OK... looks like I could play with M226.
M226 waits until a pin's value changes - you have to know the numer of the pin.
M43 allows you to display the pin's value. I may find a pin matching with the user's button.

These two exotic instructions are implemented in my shitty printer (from the documentation). I have to try it.

  • You mean going trough the menu ? I have never used this feature. When you "pause" the print, does the printer head goed to the origin (to be able to push the filament" ? I can imagine that it depends of the printer...

  • There are multiple French websites that do this. It is legal (otherwise these websites would not do this anymore, it's been a while).
There is a popup asking you if you consent to get cookies (for advertisement). If you say "no", it leads you to another popup with two choices :

    • Change your decision and accept cookies
    • Pay for a premium service without advertisements
  • I have this kind of issue with shitty white filament. Changing the filament with better quality ones solves the issue.

For this roll of filament, it looks like a retractation setting problem. When the head "jumps" across the hole, the printer retracts the filament to release the pressure. If the retractation setting it too high, it will starts the new slice with a lag in the pressure, leading to underextrusion.

You may try to calibrate your retractation setting. The value should be lower. You may get other artefacts (filament residue in the hole) but it's easy to clean.

You can make a "retractation tower" to get the best value.

  • That's what I currently try (I am not OP) and it does not works. The slicers use one magic Gcode command (M600) that does all the filament change movements and interactions.

My shitty printer (Weedo Tina2) does not recognize this command (I have found the documentation).

A printer at my fablab (artillery X2) just ignores it.

What do you use to make midprint filament change?

  • "Calvin Klein and Thomas Hobbes"

I have struggled to get anything exploitable with many Stable Diffusion models.
I then tried with Bing Image Creator (Dall E) and this was what I wanted.

  • Thanks for the description of the process. I too find that Stable Diffusion is not working great to draw prompts from sentences with logical construction. It's every concepts at random. DallE is way better at visually organizing the concepts.

  • Looks tasty

  • Second attempt.
I think that the first attempt was great, but there is no trace of exotic civilization in it.
So I made small changes in the prompt to get a cabin, where you can project yourself in this distant world.
