IMHO the issue in this situation is not the comment but that the person updating the code didn't do his job properly which shouldn't be an excuse not to do it from the start.

I don't care how much you think your code is readable, plain text comments are readable by everyone no matter the proficiency in the programming language used. That alone can make a huge difference when you're just trying to understand how someone handled a situation.

The main issue is programming in a specific language limit who can contribute to those who speaks that language. In that sense English makes sense as it is already a widely used language in a work context. It would probably limit those who are willing to use the software as it makes auditing harder.

I've come to peace with the fact that I'll laugh way more watching a movie like this or "The Shark Side of the Moon" than any serious comedy. And I mean like belly laugh, not "lol" laugh.

There's a sort of delight in watching a scene that you just know someone said after the nth take "good enough, we'll fix it in post." And forgot that the post processing budget was a pack of beer.

New employees are responsible of at least 75℅ of documentation clarification and process overhaul.

While maybe not professional IT people but Linux users are quite known to be passionate about finding solutions. It's quite recent that you can have a hands off experience with Linux, it was always a tinkerer's OS before.

I remember in high school having friends who were going crazy at the chance to be the one who could solve an OS issue, like an IT medal of honor.

I'm pretty sure there isn't an agreed upon definition of Linux distro and android being a distro has been a debate for a long time. Some, like me, see it as a Linux based distributed os.

But I guess we could then say LineageOS since it's even in the Linux distro graph

The bottom 25% of that graph is all non derivative OS, that's still a lot.

Some companies don't see privacy as security. They want to know your background, when you punch in/ punch out, if you're the type of person to leak secrets over the "dark web".

Some also don't believe in privacy at all, they believe in contract. When choosing a platform they want to know if they can sue them for breaching an NDA.

I did not receive an offer from that specific interview but yeah, I admit it was odd and didn't inspire trust so I wouldn't have accepted anyway.

Or simply being flagged as spam because of all the phishing training that goes on in big companies.
