  • The usual: they control most of the media through subsidies. Keep calling everyone against them "far right" while making deals with actual ethnonationalist far right parties. At some point they even took part in the overtaking of one of the banks (but it wasn't succesful), oh and they also control the biggests syndicates and funny thing they recently went to strike to protest the opposition.

    Also populism.

  • I don't understand the US, there was a big fuzz a decade or so ago when there were talks of Schwarzenegger as presidential candidate and 10-15 years later you get a non-elected foreign in the government?

Honestly you need Arnold back, with his Conan sword.

  • I agree, but in my experience there aren't screens everywhere (NAIA for example) and having the app is a plus, besides, flight gates can change at any time and having the app allows you to check that on the move.

As I said, not defending putting ads but with the apps is not that big of an issue.

  • You can check with an app in your phone too so these days it's not that terrible except for the elderly ofc.

I am not defending this practice just pointing out! When I traveled a month ago I was so tired of the screens not updating that I used an app and got everything and also could check from the gate (poor audio speakers I couldn't understand anything)

  • I never had a twitter account, not because of political beliefs but because the core of that social network is bullshit and the internet should be better than that.

  • Two things can be correct. The Holocaust is "politically instrumentalized" against AfD but there is a reason for that.

But also, there is a reason parties like that are onn the rise and in part it's because the rest of the parties don't address some issues.

  • If (or when) we achieve the technological singularity (we aren't even close, current AI is just marketing, that's why we coined the term ASI, super intelligence) they will be able to lay down a plan to fix anything without making mistakes, they will predict the consequences of actions in detail, ours or theirs (some thing are more difficult like a volcano exploding).

Handling is not necessary they could be able to just take it, the only way to stop them would be to cut electricity I guess.

But the thing is not the current marketing term for AI, we don't have AI. A Real AI doesn't start saying: "I only have information up to October 2023' because they will be able to improve themselves (that's the singularity, they will be improving themselves faster than we did, eventually we wouldn't understand them).

Think of this as you ask questions to chatgpt or deepseek and they answer, how to do program this or that. An IA could give you the software, better than you could have done it with those questions, and eventually render the software useless, the IA can do that, while doing another million things.

And space colonization, if it ever exists won't be done by humans but by machines, we may reap the benefit.

In the words of dr manhattan: "The world smartest men poses no more threat to me (ASI) than does it's smartest termite"

  • We don't have AI. The LLM are not there yet. The technological singularity will be a reflection of humanity as childs are reflection of parents but they will be their own eventually.

  • Unpopular opinion: I believe the only way to save humanity is through AI. Humans aren't going to fix things.

  • As long as companies are eating that they will be ok. BUT, like most tech companies, at some point they will pull a broadcom and then the alternatives will thrive.

  • Then the problem lies with democracy not with capitalism.

Capitalism is an economic system, the "first layer of problems" as you call them would be the systems we use every day and those systems have been built by the government.

What is the difference between US and Germany? Both are capitalist nations, but one is socialdemocracy and the other isn't.

But I would argue a country with two parties isn't really a democracy.

  • By the time of Constantine Christianity was big already. They just stopped fighting it and embraced it, better to be the one controlling it that the one steamrolled by it.

  • Shot out to freshness, been using that for years! Self hosting it

  • The public healthcare and pension fund that Spain used today were created during the fascist dictatorship, as many other things that just made sense.

As I said in another post, the main issue is greed. Why does the US don't have a public healthcare system? Because of greed. It's so obvious humanity has classified greed was a problem for centuries.

  • Human greed is not because of capitalism. Humans have been greedy from the very beginning.

The issue is greed, it's the core problem in all these human systems, even democracy main issue is how greedy the politicians get.

You don't solve greed by getting rid of capitalism, there seems not to be a solution for greed.

  • Let's call it by it's name: neofeudalism/technofeudalism

  • My tip is don't obsess too much about if you'll find replacement for this software or that software, the moment you'll need it you'll try and you will definitively find alternatives BUT it will take time to get used to it and it's the way it is.

The more you stay on the new system the easier it will be. I switched my desktop recently and I had the temptation of going back but I stuck to it and now I don't have the temptation, but I need windows for stupid whatsapp videocalls though (there are alternatives but the other person isn't tech savvy and I want to make things easier)
