  • I disagree. Privacy is one of the innumerable rights described at the end of the document, it's implied not only by the presence of the other specific rights but by society itself. Civilization, morals, even entire cultures (!) existed before the constitution. Personal rights; privacy, bodily autonomy and property were all established before the Enlightenment laid the framework for the American and French revolutions,

[Aside]...ultimately sunsetting the divine right to rule held up by monarchs - which is why it took revolutions - power rarely, and I mean RARELY, steps down voluntarily (I can think of 2 leaders. George Washington and Cincinnatus, that's it). It then Napoleon to settle once and for all, that the only thing divine in their rule is that the people haven't overthrown them yet, which ultimately Big little N had to be reminded of himself! The remaining monarchs are figureheads with democratic parliaments doing the actual governing.

    Phew. Anyways

Roe established that doctors should make the medical decisions, that what's discussed between doctor and patient is of no one else's concern and other people need to mind their own fucking business, full fucking stop.

That's rock fucking solid ground, yr high to think otherwise.

I'm fully aware of the subtitles and context that are and were wrapped up in the decision. I know it was sold to the laymen in the press that it's about saving women's lives (from bleeding out in back alley abortions), and that opinion is still true to this day, but it isn't the reason that allowed Roe.

Privacy 100% is solid ground. Funnily enough, in classic conservative colonial thought doublespeak, Alito and his American hating "Originalism" klan whined about protesting outside their houses, while going on about how, because it's not said SPECIFICALLY in the bill of rights there's is no right to privacy. But THEY do. Just not us.

Motherfuckers get killed over twenty fucking dollars on the streets everyday and these bitches wanna come this duplicitous? They're nothing but bad faith. No rational person should respect the law at this point, and I'd argue no one does. Those without means FEAR the law, but respect?! GTFO. Those with means? They'll do w/e the fuck they want. The rules are to keep YOU in line, not for them, sucker.

I don't want, or need Mitchell the plumber, my guy down the street, to pipe in on dietary decisions I'm entertaining due to specific genetic lottery "winnings". Focus on your pipes Mitch, not mine.

We acknowledged, as a society, the need for specialization in trades long ago. Being a blacksmith doesn't make you jeweller just bc you both swing, albeit very different, hammers. Technically Pianists are just swinging hammers too, ya see the point I'm getting at?

No fucking HOA Vice President, military wife, Sunday school teacher and community barber, Karen Antagonist's opinion is NOT valid just because she has one. Her opinion should begin and end with whether she chooses that for herself and then, she needs to shut the fuck up. No one cares about your personal 'why's'. It's personal, leave it that way. The topic is above their pay grade and you know fucking what? There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Let the professionals do the professionalling, for fucks sake. It allows you to do the you thing that makes you, you, you know (😎). Do that instead.

  • You've seen less election cycles than I have if you think voting will bring change.

Social unrest, protesting, rioting brings change

Voting (in the past 50 years) simply reaffirms or denies the social unrest. The media talks of nothing else. It's ratify the status quo or the end of democracy, neverminding that the status quo is essentially institutionalized fleecing. We are tax-chattle. Every dollar you save, somehow, in the system entirely built to make that impossible, will be extracted from your body in exchange for medicine. We will all die penniless and propertyless. By design.

  • They aren't that different tho. The range of policy and stances in policy would/could/does fall within one single party in the rest of the world. Let's break it down.

Foreign policy = same, cept for the Pro-Putin MAGA crowd. So essentially, there's 2 sides. One side pro-"western" nations (EU, US, Can, Aus, NZ, Jap, SK, Iz, UK) the other is Pro-Putin (Rus, NK, etc, etc)

Economic policy = samesies; both NeoLiberal, both pro-wartime debt spending, both austerity as matter of course, suppressing knowledge of an alternative even existing.

A happy worker is a productive worker. Shut up and do your job.

one side pulls hard hard right, the other comes pre-negotiated to guarantee plans will land further right than they've been written. Like clockwork, undoing the gains from the new deal, slowly and steadily to not invoke revolution. Democrats pass more Republican legislation than Republicans do. We have a choice of working class slavery with no taxes on business or the wealthy, or working class slavery, now but with 10% less taxes on the middle class - but with higher gas prices, cuz fuck you. Since communism fell the US has turned its ire inward trying to turn everyone into proletariat. In other words, with only their labor to sell for $. Add in the destruction of small, local business, rigging the stock market against retail/'dumb' money but usurping retirement accounts and investing everyone's pensions into their pyramid scheme, essentially holding everyone, not just those that want change, hostage

Social policy = the ONLY difference. This manifests not just thru media, but judicially. Both Pro-Police state. Both twist Mass media (and that's 5he only media now) into the 5th government branch, regurgitating the governments propaganda.

Republicans are varying degrees conservative, pining for years long gone that no one has actually lived thru. The right wants a return to the post war era, minus unions, taxes, and civic investment (the things that allowed the middle class to exist). Democrats are socially conciliatory. Which is seen as spineless. They'll go along with the get along. But they'll never actually spur change, just appease w/e unrest and go right back to fellatiating corporations and police unions.

Civilians on both sides want change. Both sides can acknowledge that America is broken but one side says it's because of the transgenders and the gays and the other side just says, to song and dance, "hey, we aren't them 👉" to distract from the pointing fingers at consolidated wealth as the problem.

So it's get in line, act in line, or get benched.

Fuck America. We're out here starving and we have the choice of a road side carcass or a multivitamin but never actual food.

  • They didn't blackmail, they sandbagged. Suddenly his entire backstory he ran in was a lie, or at least partially ginned up. That he was secretly gay, even tho being a paraplegic. Anything they could somehow spin into turning the guy into a gay communist who drinks puppy milkshakes. All very publically broadcast thru the news. Daily. Non stop. They had a point to make and they made sure every ear within shot would hear it.

I'm no fan of the kid, and he was obviously in way over his head, but his naivity def let a couple skeletons fall out of the church closet.

  • Fuck I dropped them in 2016 after seeing Blitzer dog on Sanders so bad he was practically cumming on screen. Tucker held his shit together better. And when Tucker Carlson is running circles on you on how to present as neutral and objective, well man, you've arrived at Weekly World News territory.

I won't even open a link to their site, I'll go look at Apnews or Rueters. All CNN does is quote them anyway, they don't do actual reporting anymore. They're all talking head drivel, same, and I mean that, the EXACT SAME format as Fox news. Fuck them. I hope they burn up so bad their shareholders declare bankruptcy.

After Cambridge Analytica I closed up Facebook and went back to reading my news only.

I don't need my upcoming forecast dripping in salacity, undertones, and dog-whistles, thanks.

  • I am 100% fine with censorship of known falsehoods. Let them appeal it in court. Even the tools behind 1/6, besides the biggest tool at the top, won't even risk perjury and probably contempt, in court, with the risk of jail, unlimited fines, and permenant censorship from mass media on the line.

I would prefer the falsehood to left up, colored a deep red and shrunk down to like 8pt font with a pop up on your curser that comes up when you hover over it, stating the fact of what it is; such as 'unproven', 'demostrably false' hyperlinked to evidence, 'conjecture', or 'MTG - Jewish Space Laser crazy'.

Pick up social issue, it doesn't matter your stance on it. Chances are, there is a science behind it that clearly takes a position. Facts over feelings.

Changing your mind when given new information is a strength, not a weakness. Doubling down on error..? That's some flat earth, you are definitely going to an old folks home now, kind of shit. That's how it looks. Onset dementia.

I apologize to those with real onset dementia, we know you didn't choose it, you're still worthy of respect.

  • It must, that label is on everything, so it effectively means nothing. This exchange happened between my wife and I a couple months ago

'oh honey look..this pink Himalayan salt, which expires in...2 weeks?!? is known to the state of cancer to cause California. Ah, science. What a time to be alive'

  • I'm with you. Dems are pro-corporate, socially conciliatory, meaning they'll never rock the boat ever.

Which means they'll never produce a real leader. They will never make JFK capable of giving the nation a direction. They'll squeak the loudest wheel and continuing to sell out the everyday Americans estates for end of Life health care, ensuring all money ends up at the top within a single lifetime and where you're born is the caste where you'll 99% of the time stay.

Entrenched oligarchy. Neo-fuedalism behind corporate slogans absolving shareholders of guilt and culpability.

They're takind everything of worth before they lock themselves away, prob down on the soon to be one of the last temperate climes of the Antarctic peninsula.

There's a military plan for climate change. It involves a lot of guns pointing out from around the richest and the "elites". If you aren't in those circles now, you ain't getting there.

I used to think there's no way America would lock its borders down to the ~500mill in Central America and Mexico, now I'm less naive. Not only will we lock it down, we got enough bullets to make the Colorado reach the ocean again, AND live up to it's name.

Solve a problem or sacrifice the poor? Hmm. How has society treated every problem in the past 50 years?

    ...oh it's gonna be bad.

  • More competition... =Prices increase.

This is not the outcome I was told would happen.

Wait, what else was I told that never came correct.?

Student loans Housing Pay raises Protect and serve Self driving cars Pot/Gateway Equal opportunity Meritocracy

... I'm beginning to think all of society, in it's entirety, is just one big grift.

  • I'm still waiting for any libertarian to go ahead and tell me how deregulating the sewers is gonna work out for everyones best interests.

Anyday now, I'm sure. I've been asking this since 1996, I'm sure they'll get back to me soon.

  • Or that modern proverb about the bartender not serving kicking out the respectful skinhead. In summary, if you let one in, next time he'll bring his 2 buddies and they'll behave. Then a week later you turn around and your a nazi bar.

I have a pretty easy litmus test for people. If you want your personal beliefs to become law and force other people to live your values, it's simple. I think you're a monster. End of story. The basic do whatever you want as long as you don't hurt anyone is really all we need. If you can't eat pork, don't live on a pig farm, but if you can't control yourself then your failings are between you, your conscience and your god and nobody has fuck-all to do with any of that. I have personal beliefs I think would make for terrible policy. I thought everyone had that, or could recognize that but holy shit was I giving some ppl way too much credit. I can't tell you how many grown ass adults, living on their own for decades, I've had to look dead in the eye and say that just bc you thought something doesn't mean it means shit. Your thoughts aren't holy, aren't a revelation from some esoteric being, and they aren't a conduit or embodiment of the divine. At least a dozen people who've never even considered the alternative. It still stuns me, as much as it disgusts me.

It's like too many people think that because the boomers got away with acting despicable (and they we're collectively lead poisoned and essentially stopped emotionally maturing at 14) that that's the norm and now it's their turn. And yea, nope. Strike that thought from your brain. Act right or GTFO. Most of Gen X, almost all of Millennials and a larger chunk of GenZ haven't turned conservative upon getting older. If anything I've swung harder left. We outnumber them.

  • I am 100% with you about believing people when they tell you who they are. They'll cut off their own nose to spite their face, never, ever underestimate a conservatives capacity to withstand hardship or pain if it's causing their rival more or the same. It's inspiring, in all the wrong ways.

Liberals in blue states have been the largest group buying guns and ammo since 2016 and the trend hasn't slowed.

Look into it. I live in a blue Western state outside the major metropolitan area, which I worked in for 15 years.

Id say a good 80% of the people I know vote Dem and id say a SOLID 85% of everyone I know across the board owns a gun. Everyone is armed, in their homes/apartments at a minimum.

Interestingly, out of the 1000s of ppl I know, veterans (and students 😞) want gun control the most, while those I know in working on the force or in law in a another capacity and vehemently against. Which is kind of mind blowing. Gun control would make a cops job easier, maybe not in the first year, but it'd cumulatively stack. Australia did it, it can be done, save any arguments unless you want to explain how another unruly offspring if the British Empire is soooo culturally different than we are.

Anyways, tons of Liberals own guns, like guns, and can actually afford to take them to the range all the fucking time, they just don't fucking yap on and on about it and make it their personality.

I wish they felt the same about craft beer, for fucks sake.

  • I'm with you brotherman. Intolerance isnt a paradox. Those being intolerant have broken the social rules, therefore the agreement and compromise that tolerance is does.not.apply.to.them

Let the others take the high road. I don't want a mic anyway. I'll be around, down with the rest of my working class, guarding the rear on the low road. You see, my dreams were crash after crash made impossible for me and my copium is simply ensuring that those responsible don't get to live there's either. The dies been cast, I've made my peace with it.

  • As well as teach tolerance for other cultures, different perspectives and the humanities in general.

Cancelling tourism across the board will 100% end up with everyone going to war with each other within a single lifetime, by means of the power hungry/money hungry/attention hungry "othering" everything not within eyeshot.

We're essentially talking about de-democratizing cultures and returning power to the hands of the few who get to translate the outside world for us. Idk about you, but I'm not interested in living under INGSOC or a return to cardinals gate-keeping wisdom, and substituting their own, behind the proverbial Latin.

We need to curb greenhouse gases, yes, but we need that by normalizing green tech, not dropping another quarantine curtain on everyone. We need MORE tourism, like it or not. Maybe a state sanctioned, and funded, 2 years before uni for teens to have their own modern 'walkabouts' and get some exposure. We need everyone to gain some culture, after all, the more traveled we are, the less dogmatic and less inclined towards violence we tend to become. Which makes governing a population have to focus more on coercion and policy/dialectics and perhaps there's the rub. It's easier to start programming the young (kindergarten) with nationalism than sway opinions with rationality. Maybe that's where the burnt of modern problems stem from.
