  • Naw, split up the state into 4 states, with Houston, Austin, Dallas and San Antonio as capitals. Cut state lines and populations up to ensure that as the main city votes so goes the state.

    That'd be 8 democratic senators.

Add DC, PR, American Virgin Islands American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and that's potentially another 12.

Regardless of politics the territories, and DC, should have statehood and equal rights and representation as the rest of us or they should have independence. It's part of our national identity. No more colonialism or secondclass sub citizens.

  • And Ike was apolitical. He joined the Republicans because he felt the Democrats were too strong and he wanted levity between the two.

For fun look up his presidential platform to see how...progressive... Republicans used to be and how far theyve fallen.

Shit you don't even have to go that far back, Reagan, their neo-liberal god, would be lampooned in today's GOP. He passed gun-control and gave amnesty to those here illegally - both of which we should do again. He also ignored a pandemic resulting in millions of unnecessary deaths, just like our last Republican president, you know the one who stole Reagans motto, Make America Great Again. Yea Reagan did that first, that was his schtick and they both fucking failed HARD at that.

  • Hard disagree.

Arms manufacturers would be high level targets in any version of a civil war, not just by any sect of us, but foreign subversive agents would be keen to initiate as well. The MI complex has just about everything to lose.

And 6our other point, the rich have too much to lose, again HARD HARD Disagree. Fascism is rising...who do you think is paying for it?

Once you have more money than you can ever spend the only thing left to buy is power. They've captured almost every means of production. They control a disproportionate amount of our foreign policy. Apple activity threatens economic warfare whenever any talk of regulation comes up. WHY ELSE would a company hold onto a TRILLION dollars? (To threaten security of a currency, that's why). The Billionaires are a national security threat. And they almost have the final nail, total, complete information control. They're trying to regulate the internet, with their multiple "think of the children" campaigns. Their wet dream is us having to scan our license to log in, then everything we do is tracked, every question asked, every dissent in a forum met moments later with a real life knock on the door. Thought police.

Monopolies are the logical conclusion of capitalism. Once wealth is attained, all effort is spent securing that wealth. They'll sacrifice any and all of us. They chair multinational companies, it's naive to think they have any kind of national patriotism (unless it's them that's in charge). They're a tumor to our species.

Rome survived for almost 2000 years and they had 5 benevolent dictators. That's one every 400 years. We don't have time to spare like that. I don't think authoritarianism is the answer, and for those who do, I question your rational capabilities.

I'd like to remind everyone that the protagonists in 1984, fahrenheit, brave new world...they don't live thru the story. And the machines they're raging against keep on keeping on. Our job is to end the hate BEFORE it starts building bases.

  • It'll be chaos, and then it'll be martial law. When there are no clean sides, no obvious distinction or front lines, entire cities/regions become internment camps. Everyone is suspect. Anyone could be one of them.

    Scenes like this;

Persons with last names starting from CH to DO have the next 2 hours to do their weekly shopping, anyone without correct identification, displayed on their chest, is subject to arrest and indefinite imprisonment. Resistance will not be tolerated, try, defy and it'll be the last time. Don't be a hero, citizen, c'mon, keep the line moving. No talking to those not in your party. Don't wander off the yellow line or the autosentries will turn you into a hazy pink mist. BRRRRAPP

If America balkanizes (cuz if we split, it won't be into 2 it'll be into several) there will never be peace in North America in any of our lifetimes. Those who are chomping the bit for it might do well to remember that of all the multipronged wars in history I don't think there's been a single one that was won by any of the original starting factions. So whomever is around at the beginning, that side, all those sides, have already lost. We just don't know what terror will be birthed from their corpses that finally takes over.

  • A ponzi scheme is getting new people to pay out the old. See also, social security, health insurance, any and every MLM. See also, fractional banking.

It's unsanctioned fractional banking and the big boys don't like being called out for the crooks they are.

The same idea, playing out over time, can describe the credit industry. Really, why split hairs, we've been told for thousands of years that the money lenders are worse than murderers. Using current resources to pay off yesteryears resource use. That inversion describes all the above.

Perhaps poison pill is the more succinct packaging. Words are important, and clarity should always be attempted, surely, but semantics aside, everything I've written here are all different shades of the same thing, the evil of dehumanization caused by greed, predation and exploitation. A pox on society.

  • You have the gist of it. It was heavily promoted, yes, but the cost of bringing city amenities out, so piping water and sewage instead of making everyone dig a well and have a septic, well those costs were almost universally kicked down the line, essentially paid for on bonds and bonds are now coming due, right when we they all need major refurbishing, so double whammy on the current generation.

It also started a fairly craven class warfare tactic. The chosen few who could afford too bought the new development, lived there for 7 years, and then sold it, took the $150,000 or whatever equity they didn't do anything to earn, and bought another brand new development. The 2nd owner tho, just bought into a house when the 30yr roof needs an "unexpected" $8000 repair, the basements started flooding because the garage settled wrong and busted pipes...you get the picture. Unless you're the chosen few, you're stuck carrying the bag and doing all the lifting. No matter what you do. Any complaining tho, and watch yo ass busted down to desolation. Murica.

  • That's also assuming the court martial doesn't end with corporal punishment. Subsequent to wanting to go home every night is wanting to go home, period, and while I'm sure a few are buying the bullshit Abbots selling, I'm willing to bet that most won't exchange bullets over it

  • I don't agree with Abbotts position here. Border Patrol has the legal responsibility to patrol the national border - and unfortunately, they've extended that range to 200 miles inland, which is fucking bonkers.

I am sympathetic to Texans wanting to things done their way, as it's their state but it's a national border. If Texas wanted to patrol their border with Oklahoma, I would consider that their prerogative, just as I think it's Cali's prerogative to do so with Az.

Im sus of Paxton or Abbott actually wanting to solve any issues here tho. This feels like more grandstanding and politicking, throwing fodder to the media controversy machine. If Texans were set on securing the border to the manner they see fit, why don't they fall back, idk fifty fucking feet and defend that line?

Seems like that would allow BP to do what they need to do, and if there's just a "second wall" behind, that would allow Texas to do what it wants to do. Fucking Constantinople had 3 sets of walls that stood unpenetrable for 1000 years, its not like multiple walls is historically unheard of.

But, I'm not convinced Republicans want a solution towards immigration. I think they just want the theatrics so they can point at something when you ask why nothing's getting done (a placation I traditionally ascribe to democrats; for example DC renaming a street BLM Boulevard instead of addressing any of the raised issues)

  • After that power company got blackmailed in the American South and extorted for like 40000 Bitcoin, which they paid...but then within 24 hours the FBI had recovered all of it...which is something no one was supposed to be capable of doing, I'm going to go ahead and say Bitcoin anonymity is compromised.

That means the FBI or DHS has devoted the computational power necessary to track every.single.bitcoin.transaction and then indexed it all well enough to cross reference against metadata.

Bitcoin is as secure as they allow it to be. It's most likely allowed for the same reason the Tor network is, because it's an avenue to move resources or information to undercover assets overseas.

  • I got banned from r/politics for saying killing Nazi's is a great American tradition, and in my case, a family tradition, all my grandparents, and my wives grandparents were all overseas as part of the war effort.

If you want to find who's really running a joint, find out who you can't offend.

  • I think standing against genocide is an admirable thing to do.

I know I know, it's not something that we're used too as Americans. We haven't had justified war since, what, Korea? Kuwait? War for spoils doesn't justify, imo. Helping an invaded ally, does.

Following, Israel's response isn't in line with the Hamas attack. Neither was America's war on Iraq and Afghanistan after 9/11.

What was the stat? A full 60% of Palestinians in Gaza weren't even alive the last time hostilities broke out? But those kids are dying all the same. Bombing out refugee pathways -that Israel dictated even - really, REALLY isn't a good look. That Gaza has no hospitals left? Bibi openly talking about the forced removal of the whole region...that's CLEAR-AS-FUCKING-DAY genocide.

I got nothing against Jews, in fact, the closest people to me outside my blood family are Jewish. I LOVE Jews. I LOVE their perspective and expression of community and family. I fucking admire that in them. idgaf yr religion or where yr ancestors hail from, but after this shit, with the hard-line right and orthodoxy running things (everyone said Bibi sold his soul to make that coalition), if Zionism means imperialism, colonialism, apartheid, and hatred dressed up in whatever dog whistle you choose, then add Zionism to the list of things I dont support. It can share that stage with Nazism, Stalinism, Objectivism, Corporatism, Calvinism and many more other -isms I don't care to search for atm.

You don't get to take help after a tragedy just to recover your strength then seek your turn on top of the wheel of oppression. That gets us nowhere and exposes you as just as bad as your oppressors. Israel has lost any moral ground they might have claimed to have. They're just a terrorist state in my eyes and I don't want my taxes going to fund their hate campaigns.

I am not on the side of hate. Ever. It's that simple. And if that costs gEnOcIdAl jOe, as you say, the election, then, well, he fucking earned that. And RIP America then. If war breaks out in our soil, we'll never see peace on the continent again, not in our lifetimes, not in our children's lifetimes, and all the ecological damage from all that warring will prob ensure that our grandchildren or great-grandchildren will be the last generation.

  • There's some artistic rhetoric in there but at the heart of it im saying people today, despite our technical advances, aren't any different than people medieval. Keep in mind, I'm talking as if I'm yapping at my boys here, this ain't for publication or speech writing. That being said, I'm feeling a little lyrical, I'm sure this'll be long.

We done fucked up. For some of us, all our fancy tech has geniunely given a utopia. But all that fancy tech also shoved that shit in the rest our faces making sure we know we'll never get to play with it to. Every week its some new amazing discovery but outside, for the majority of us, it's perpetual 1999. This is where someone chimes in with "technically" stats about most peaceful time in history, etc etc. I'll even agree with the stats, but i know, hopefully you know too, that statistics thrown up ≠ persuasive argument.

I've heard the recession is over since 2008. Now, 16 years later and I still haven't seen this improvement the talking heads prattle on about. What little recovery anyone of us workers had managed to squirrel away the pandemic took. I know one couple who is better off now than they were 16 years ago. Showing me statistics otherwise my observed existence isn't going to convince me I'm wrong, it's going to make me think you 1. Aren't listening to me, and 2. Would rather steamroll me with party lines and talking points. 100% would not work. Im still convinced that the recession, for at least 75% of Americans never ended, and the unprecedented success of Black Rock, Amazon, and that grifter Musk, and the rest of the lawless, Epstein clas, threw every metric out the window. Or just blurred enough of the acronyms to hammer a couple home as evidence even tho ..in .no one sees it anywhere.

But y'know, media, ministry of truth, 2+2=5. Neoliberalism lies thru its teeth.

Example: We have a dept of defense but we haven't fought a defensive war since 1865, save for 2 moments in 1941. We are historically the warring party, the attackers.

That point aside, my main point is the heavy, unironical use of euphemism when everyone and their mail-order-mother-in-law knows their playing fast and loose...but he who controls the present controls the past. Words matter. There's still a public record. There is still what we indoctrina.../teach our next generation. That's why those sick GOP fucksticks fetishize children....s education. I joke but the only two things a R cares about in a school are what myth of our history are we selling and what set of private parts the kids have.

Now I don't know any pedo's, but for how much the right talks about children's nethers and their concern for where 2 (or more) consensual adults park their bits, I don't know which group, far right fascista faggotry or literal chimo's, which of whom is more consumed by other people's bits than the other, and that's frankly frightening.

There's the media line, the line of record. Then there's testimony by those actually living it. Bro, I don't know a single parent that's not on food stamps. I'm 42. I know hundreds and hundreds of parents. Not. One. Our failures as a society, and the general mood towards that is a one of the most important statistics we have, because it measures the general zeitgeist of resentment: income inequality. NeoLiberal policy has created our society, these conditions aren't the result of unforseen social theory. Neoliberalism itself is a rather interesting sparring partner with in² ($≠...idk) since NL requires almost maxing out the propaganda and police state specs. Theyve already sustained far longer than the French Monarchy did. Income was easier to acquire before and during the French revolution, and homes were easier to purchase during the great depression.

School teaches us that, generally, we are at the end of history, which is NeoLiberal doublespeak to dissuade looking elsewhere for answers. But I've the mind that the truth doesn't need to hide away. If capitalism were so secure, why do poli sci grads leave uni without reading Das Kapital? You cant gloss over Marx when talking poli sci.

They'll juviophobe every generation to distract. Millennials killed the funeral (can't afford any fun :( ), GenZ can't think in color. Blah blah. Gay, straight, fuzzy, chimera's, whatever. It's all bullshit

We have the same problems today we had a hundred years ago. An entire century of human development wasted. For what? So the same lazy fucking 100 families can continue never working?

You got another way of seeing that? Cuz that's my take on our entire planet and I find it extremely wanting. I couldn't plead a defense to some galactic court, I'd just go listen to Gogon poetry.

So stats can make a narrative, but if no one is actually living that narrative, it's not an if, it's a when. Democrats, always, ALWAYS, framed as it's them or ANARCHY, sell us a narrative we all know is bullshit.

Some people are tired of eating it. And I can't blame them. I am not paid by the DNC, I am not doing their work for them. And if I'm being honest, anarchy sounds more appealing then perpetual 1999.

  • All those companies refuse to make the "medicines" used in it, actually. In this rare instance, the private sector pushed back and effectively ended lethal injection as an option.

    Hence AL looking elsewhere.

I'm with you guys tho, N asphyxiation is peaceful...but as we all know, the cruelty is inherent and fundamental to capitalism. Hence the propaganda campaigns.
