The noise cancelling headphones I had in my basket, waiting for the prime day sale, had an amazing 90p discount on them. Yay.

I copied a bunch of BORU posts over while I still had Apollo to get the sub started. I can’t bear the reddit app though so my work here is done.

I don’t agree. Women have been choosing the term “actor” instead of “actress” to describe themselves since the 1970s and 1980s as a direct result of the women's movement and an awareness of gender bias in language. The screen actors guild also uses “actor” for both men and women, or “female actor” when marking a distinction between the two sexes. Only the academy awards still uses “actress”. The Los Angeles times says the word actress is dying out of conversation… there are so many articles about it. “Actor” is not misgendering her.

Me too. But I switched back to the test flight version because he wants bugs on the official app reported via GitHub and I don’t have/want to make an account there. Plus the official release is a little behind the TestFlight version.

I don’t think you need to worry about loyalty if that’s what’s holding you back. Memmy isn’t working for me today, voyager is. I’ve submitted multiple error reports to let him know, but I want to browse lemmy today so voyager it is. I still prefer Memmy and I’ll switch back when it’s sorted.

I had to stop using Memmy today. I assume it’s due to the hack? I have accounts on the lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works instances and Memmy says I’m logged in but I can’t see anything. Literally nothing accept my own comments on my profile page.

If you got to profile > the gear icon > accounts you can add new accounts or delete current ones you’re logged into. You could try adding your account information again there. You might be better off switching to wefwef/voyager like me though. I’m sure the Memmy bugs will be fixed in the next day or so but right now it’s unusable for me.

True. It’s interesting to read a right leaning perspective and a left leaning one of the same story though.

I don’t recall being particularly bored but I do recall taking a book absolutely everywhere with me. I can remember arguing with my parents because they’d only let me pack 7 hardback library books in my suitcase for a two week holiday when I was about 8!

I don’t know the answer, but I wonder if it’s something to do with human feelings and motivations appearing inconsistent and being difficult to understand for autistic people. Anecdotally, my brother understands what emotions are and recognises them in himself and others, but he finds it difficult to understand why people react or feel differently from him. He has empathy, but he can’t always apply it; if I’m upset and crying over something he doesn’t find upsetting he’s like ??????? By personifying objects he gets to imagine and practice empathy, without the vagaries of human emotion and individual differences muddying the waters.

I have nothing to base this on but my own experiences so I could be way off, but that’s my two cents!
