"Don't stop dreaming, because the world is full of people who've stopped dreaming."
Probably no one said that, it's just what reminds me on so many things at once. It's so full of hope, confidence, happiness, interest into new things, overcoming obstacles, the future, laying off the monotone, enjoyment, pushing yourself further.
I could interpret and fill so much into this.
It also has a little bit of superiority in it, but that's because I often suffer under the negative Nancys and people who have given up, who try their best to drag you down.
But coding never was the difficult part. It's understanding a concept, identify a problem and solve it with the possible methods. An AI just makes the coding part faster and gives me options to quicker identify a possible solution. Thankfully there's a never ending pile of projects, issues, todos and stackholder wants, that I don't see how we need less programmers. Maybe we need more to deal with AI, as now people can do a lot more in house instead of outsourcing, but as soon as that threshold is reached, companies will again contact large software companies. If people want to put AI into everything, you need people feeding the AI with company specific data and instruct people to use this AI.
All I see is middle management getting replaced, because instead of a boring meeting, I could just ask an AI.
Is there a chance Valve did this on purpose? An NDA isn't anything new, but they didn't have people sign any and a simple in game notice, to not share information, is pretty much the same, as telling people to not think about a purple elephant, the second you mention it. Marketing is everything these days and all I see is a ton of news and people talking about this game. You almost couldn't have done it any better way.
Then google got greedy and ruined it's own ad service. Imagine google would've stopped at this early point. A single, non flashing banner ad would generate as much as 5 multiple second video ads do now. But ads got used more and more inflationary, to the point where we are now.
There 2D is like our 4D. The same way we can't see 4D, they see 2D as normal and 3D is unachievable to them as for us 4D. Same with the style. They see themselves at the same style as what is normal to them.
Got to upvote this opinion, because it's unpopular and wrong.
I had a very long explanation ready but I didn't feel like bothering people to read all this, so in short:
Look up what suspension of disbelief is. Try to show empathy towards people who can immerse themselves into a game because it looks as realistic as possible. Accept that games are as diverse as other forms of art and understand that you are just showing preferences, that doesn't mean the other form is wrong. Don't pick something like CoD as a measure for anything other than pure greed.
Large game publisher are not your friends, they only want your money. The realism approach isn't wrong, it's the consumers who buy the shit games. The graphics of the game don't matter, it's what companies can get away with and so they'll repeat it.
