It takes literally no effort with ProjectIvy. It's just a menu selection in the new launcher to set it as default.

When I tried FLauncher it didn't have that convenient selection, and I'd have to adb in to set it as default. So I didn't end up using it.

The Adobe photography plan costs me $120 a year, and honestly includes more useful updates than not. Their AI masking upgrades the last couple years are saving me hours to days of editing time per photo session.

$120 a year is worth maybe one hour of my free time. Even just migrating to Darktable would take me weeks or months of dedicated time to migrate my existing catalog.

When they sell the asset, they need to pay the tax. Conveniently, at that point the sale provides the money from such the taxes should be paid.

Same for cheap TVs these days btw, their home page ads are why they're able to sell you a decent quality 85" TV for under $2k.

On the Nvidia shield side, they've started adding more and more ads lately, which is completely unexcusable. Thankfully it's not hard to use alternative launchers.

Doesn't work as well these days when everything is too big to fail and gets bailed out, instead of letting the economy endure the destruction part of creative destruction.

I get what you mean, but I think stealing something unguarded and violently confronting people take vastly different mindsets.

Just putting it out there, many people you see walking around with a detachable lens camera are wearing about that much visible gear on their person, if not far more.

It's been published by multiple sources at this point that this happens because of detected proximity. Basically, they know who you hang out with based on where your phones are, and they know the entire search history of everyone you interact with. Based on this, they can build models to detect how likely you are to be interested in something your friend has looked at before.

The way that "Hey Alexa" or "Hey Google" works is by, like you said, constantly analysing the sounds they said. However, this is only analyzed locally for the specific phrase, and is stored in a circular buffer of a few seconds so it can keep your whole request in memory. If the phrase is not detected, the buffer is constantly overwritten, and nothing is sent to the server. If the phrase is detected, then the whole request is sent to the server where more advanced voice recognition can be done.

You can very easily monitor the traffic from your smart speaker to see if this is true. So far I've seen no evidence that this is no longer the common practice, though I'll admit to not reading the article, so maybe this has changed recently.

For a person "making" $30,000,000,000 a year, a $1,000,000,000 fine may mean they can't... Buy another island? You still have $29,000,000,000 that you can do who knows what with. This is the entire GDP of some countries. I also don't know if this one is a realistic example.

Anyway, proportional is nice, but really you need a progressive system to really match the weight of punishments, as far as impacting your daily life or happiness.

So, I can't easily find the name of the ship in Chinese, but it could possibly be a translation error during naming? New New is xīng xīng in pingying (romanized phonetic Chinese), which is also the same spelling as star... If whoever did the translation was bad at it and did it solely off of the phonetics or romanized spelling.

Get Adobe to port their software to Linux. They're literally all that's holding me on Windows. I know there's some options to replace them, but those seem to be a mixed bag of seemingly deliberately difficult to use, or require way too much setup time to port my existing portfolio (LR to DT).

I drink an absolute ton of water all the time, but I almost never have to go more than every 4-6 hours, if not longer. It's not like I'm holding it either, there's just no pressure to go for at least that long. I normally have 40oz water bottles that I refill at least a few times per day.

16 hours of driving, let's say averaging 70mph, is 1120 miles. Even at a moderately shitty mpg for a modern car of 30mpg, that's 37.3gal. Around most of the Midwest I can count on gas averaging $3.50 or less a gallon, so that's $130 each way. That's cheaper than anything other than extreme budget airlines, if you don't need any luggage whatsoever. If you have more than a carry on, then you're already saving money.

I'm basing this off Midwestern multi state drives, since that's what I've done the most. I can get a cheaper flight on Frontier or Spirit, but again, that falls apart as soon as I add any luggage, and I prefer to travel with luggage when it's a reasonable option.
