  • As a music performance major, graduating in four years with no summer classes required 16-18 credits per semester plus about 3-4 credits worth of zero credit courses. The joke was that college was either the worst four years or best five years of your life.

I ultimately switched to an even more difficult degree but graduated after 5.5 years. I had a blast.

  • Same, except I also changed my major twice more and bombed out of two semesters. Employers give zero fucks. I was just discussing earlier how none of them even verify my education and I work in a pretty technical field requiring specialized education.

  • I believe you're 100% right. I didn't attend many, probably most, of my lectures as they're completely useless for me - I simply don't learn well from listening and frantically taking notes. It was much faster and more effective to read the material and interact with it in some way, usually rewording and condensing it into a study guide. The few classes I did attend either had mandatory attendance, so I just ignored the lecture and did my own thing during that time, or the class was significantly interactive so I actually learned from it.

  • I'm moderately surprised it wasn't the Trump administration shilling for another company.

"The White House, brought to you by Boeing. We'll keep the doors on for you!"

  • Hey, that first part exactly describes my uncle. We might be related!

  • As well as employers contacting the university for verification, graduates can request their university send certified copies of their transcripts and diplomas. It's also possible for candidates to supply an unofficial transcript that can be later verified.

The context of the thread is few employers seem to question if educations are legitimate, not that they suspect they're fake. The point I'm making is that not only are they not verifying information with my university, they're not even asking me to substantiate anything, official or otherwise.

  • It's true. I finished grad school well over a decade ago, not once has anyone verified my education. They haven't even requested transcripts.

  • I'm only an amateur mechanic and a middling chemist, but I'd estimate the amount of sugar water required for the sugar component to have any significant effect on an engine would just keep it from running. Gasoline won't dissolve water and water is denser, so it'll settle on the bottom of the tank. A fuel line full of water will kill combustion pretty quick.

  • Bingo, and it takes a lot to clog the filter. Plain water is more of a nuisance.

  • I engaged in the "affair-tolerant monogamy" variant when I was younger. I discovered there's a positive curvilinear relationship between amount of drama and number of romantic partners. I am sometimes barely able to handle my own incidental drama, so it didn't last more than a few years.

  • It is pretty surreal, huh? I cope through irreverent humor, which will probably get me sent to a concentration camp, but it'll also get me through living in that camp. How that ends is open to interpretation.

  • I have no concerns if he wants to force feed himself grain mash in the privacy of his own home. I draw the line at involving innocent waterfowl, though.

  • I see you know as much about Jellyfin as you do about my in-laws.

  • I'd vote for you if I could! Tesla could be alright without Musk, but it's a long, uphill drive from where they're at now.

  • I LOVE Jellyfin but can only imagine the amount of work I'd have to do if I tried to get my parents and in-laws successfully using it. We all just split the cost of lifetime Plex pass the last time it was on sale.
