  • Mitch just picked up the torch. Newt Gingrich is the one that started it with the 'moral majority' under Reagan. They made politics into religion, at which point any attempts to be bipartisan or negotiate was essentially making a deal with Satan. He ended any political viability to compromise on the right.

  • Honestly only a million is a weak number. Three or four would have been good, six would make me think democracy might survive. The 2020 election was over $14 billion, and we've had strong inflation since then.

Getting people pumped to support Biden is like getting excited about plain toast. We best start acting like it's our first food in a month.

  • With disability I could move out of the country and maybe afford actual medical care. Again, life insurance is WAY cheaper than health insurance, and gives partial payment for disability. At that point, I don't care about losing my career, I'm getting paid for life. The only question I really have right now, is if I'm going to be totally or only partially blind.

  • If I die my family gets paid, and my problems are over. Even losing a major limb is a better option than the costs of prevention.

Really good life insurance is really cheap. Nothing makes health care affordable in the US, except leaving the US.

  • China has long had a unification plan. It's not really anything new. There's just been a huge political football made out of it for decades. And of course that led to stupidly huge over investment in their economy by the rest of the globe as a way to encourage China to back off. Xi doesn't see the value in the status quo. It'd be like California seceding, then making tons of money while the rest of the US went fascist and built military power. Same ending.

  • No one will like the outcome. Revolution almost never results in a better living standard in the lifetime of those involved.

That's not to say it's the worst course of action, just recognizing the down sides.

  • So the headline just says physical edition, not PC or anything. Which had me thinking they printed out a book with all the maps and NPC stats and such as an adventure module. Obviously not true, but maybe it should be?
