  • That's not true! You guys make plenty of good stuff. You make vast quantities of total crap as well, but your craft beer is cool, your wines seem popular even if I've never been taken by them myself, and bourbon has a great tradition

  • I'm not German, but my experience when I have visited is that foreign beer is a relatively minor market in Germany. They make so much beer of their own anyway, and a lot of it is pretty damn good, so why bother importing? Several nearby countries like Belgium and Czechia also have pretty strong traditions, so competition is stiff

Moonshine doesn’t really get exported at scale.

On wine, Germany is right next to France and Italy, Spain is nearby too, and there are some distinctive German styles too, so there's huge competition. Still, if their wine market is like the UK one, then American wines are certainly present and enjoyed by plenty of people, but they don't have a reputation for being notably strong

With all that, the American drinks most commonly seen in Europe are bourbon and light beers. It's not an accurate depiction of the American domestic market, but it is what makes it across the Atlantic.

  • Barring the situations where they violently erupted into flames because the lifting gas was hydrogen, they deflate pretty slowly because of a combination of the relatively low pressure in the envelope and the relatively huge volume of the envelope compared to the size of a bullet hole. WIth the combination of not much force pushing lifting gas out and an enormous quantity of gas to be moved to reduce lift, they have a long time before they sink completely

  • I really ought to give Oblivion a playthrough with a few mods. It was my first Elder Scrolls game way back when, and I think my first RPG altogether, but I was playing it on console so I couldn't change the fucked up levelling system

  • I'm really looking forward to it. It seems to be consistently recommended as the thing that offers the most similar experience to Outer Wilds, which I absolutely adore. A good puzzle that reveals a story is always such a satisfying way to spend a bit of brain power

  • Personally I'm a fan of Botswana's flag. Despite using very simple shapes only three colours, it's still instantly recognisable - I'm pretty sure it'd be distinct even in greyscale, or even if you just saw the three colours at all because nobody else uses that pale blue alongside white and black.

  • At least for me, absurdism was appealling specifically because I was already unhappy. It's a somewhat reassuring way to look at the world that doesn't attempt to create some grand purpose that an unhappy person already feels has failed them. It doesn't fix the problem, but it is a productive mindset

  • I feel like the best way to do a Subnautica painting would be an absolutely gigantic black canvas with only the just enough hints of blue light in the centre to silhouette the diver and a big monster. Which isn't really practical for most purposes.

  • The bridge in Shadow of the Colossus, crumbling and ancient yet still striding as a titan across the vast landscape

The opulent neo-classical Indian cityscape of Sonashahar in Pacer

The Hanging City in Outer Wilds, clinging to the underside of a hollow world's fragile shell

Also, like, all of A Highland Song. It's intentionally designed to look like landscape paintings anyway. The castle in the loch is probably my favourite, or maybe the giant dam

  • No, but it is being a belligerent in a war. To be completely clear I am pro-Ukraine and think that we in Europe and North America should be doing far more to help Ukraine. I'm just also wanting to make sure we can call zante for the actual wrong stuff they said rather than misunderstandings
