  • The gamification only works until you figure out the rules they used.

I have completed multiple lessons on Duolingo without ever reading the prompt. I even started a language I knew nothing about because I felt like I wasn't actually absorbing anything in the language I'd spent more than a year on, and pretty much the same results. After a few lessons it became possible to complete lessons basically blind.

  • They know it's bad. They want you locked in to their ecosystem. The goal is to be the first to get consumers locked in. So they're rushing to market with incomplete products because if they don't release NOW someone else might beat them to it.

  • Weeeellll classic memes are often celebrated for their excellence but there is a new meme featuring Orson Welles inspired by that same classic excellence. It is written in his voice and like the most choice classic memes, is fresh and OC so Orson Welles....

  • You seem to be sucking down some aggressively hateful ignorance.

We're making the case that St Louis, which overwhelmingly voted for Harris, and was recently struck by a tornado, does not deserve to be lumped in with the rest of Missouri. They share very little in common politically, geographically, or demographically. The only thing they really share is a border on the Missouri River and a section of I-70.

Nobody here is praying for Uncle fuck and Jimbo down in Jeff City.

  • Right handed, left pocket.

When I was deciding what went where, I drove a car with actual locks and cell phones were really only for calls, you didn't spend all day looking at it. So my keys spent more time in my hands than my phone did.

    Now it's a habit and I can't change it.

  • It's more sci fi than fantasy but I greatly enjoyed both The Expanse series and The Three Body Problem books. The expanse is just good start to finish. TBP however requires a little bit of forgiveness, it's a less than stellar translation from Chinese, it carries a lot of cultural baggage that gets lost in translation. But it gets better with each book

  • I used to call in sick for major video game releases. kinda miss those days. Now I work at a place that rewards attendance with vacation days and if I took a day off I would spend it working on stuff around the house anyway. Oh well, so it goes. Poo tee weet.
