Or school supplies for the teachers. Even in the firmly middle-class area I live parents are always talking about teachers begging for supply donations. Pencils, pens, dry erase markers, markers, crayons, glue, even copy paper are frequently requested.

The SO and I drop stuff off a few times every school year to be distributed to classes that need it. It would be nice if my tax dollars AT LEAST made sure teachers had the supplies they need to do their job. But hopefully other people are doing the same thing, if they can.

Of course they will delete the old system entirely. Saving it would just be wasteful, and intelligent.

We will find out just how good AI is with coding in a few months when it replaces the SSA's, mostly, COBOL based system.

My guess? Catastrophic.

Efficiency. Everyone knows if we tax the wealthy then the economy would collapse because they would stop spending. Plus, billionaires employee entire accounting firms to do their taxes so there is no way they could be wrong. Its silly even looking at them.

A quick search shows rabies testing is $80 to ~$200. Given the cost and time a transplant takes I would say testing for rabies would be insignificant. But health insurance companies are assholes so they probably would not cover the cost due to the rarity of the disease. Cheaper for them to let people die and families sue.

For years my bank had overdraft off by default. At some point, in one of their ToS or User Agreement updates, they turned overdraft on for everyone and you had to go in to turn it off.

Probably depends on if the state has a Good Samaritan law and how it is worded. A quick search found me an article written by a criminal defense attorney in Phoenix, AZ and AZ's law makes "injecting" yourself into a dangerous situation illegal.

At this point it is safe to assume anyone in government who aligns themselves with MAGA/Republicans is compromised or sympathetic to China and Russia.

I am all for mandatory voting in the US for everyone over the age of 18. Voting is not just a right but a civic duty and everyone should be required, and enabled, to carry it out.

As for those worried about paying for it take a percentage of every political donation/contribution to candidates, parties and PAC's and fund it with that.

In 2021, according to internet, they paid $26.3 billion to be the default search engine on phones and browsers.

So assuming those are not long term deals they are probably over $30 billion now.

Hypocrisy, she is talking about hypocrisy.
