Some editing software will use a copy of your file as extended memory, so it is always caching to disk. That can be slow, so some don't do it for small files. I am thinking of Linux tools like vi and vim.

The fact the scene was reenacted for the photo does not change all that much. There was a time when most people thought that photos never lie, but that hasn't been for a long time.
The interpreter or compiler could also introduce memory issues into the code. Much less likely to happen, but it is not unknown.
