  • I dunno man, I generally don’t support policies that exist just make life difficult for people who are already at a disadvantage.

There are so many roadblocks preventing these people from fixing their situation, and the State of California has no power to help them rectify it.

The cost of this program would be pretty negligible compared to other frivolous government spending, which I’m sure you’re equally vocally opposed to.

  • The bill, by Democratic Assembly member Joaquin Arambula of Fresno, would have prohibited the disqualification of loan applicants to a state first-time homebuyer program for reasons based solely on immigration status.

Not rewarding anybody. Read the article

  • There’s tons of people in California that grew up there and work normal jobs who are undocumented basically on a technicality. That’s who this bill was looking to help. Newly landed immigrants are not going to be in a position to buy a house, certainly not in California.

Unfortunately, that does give a lot of ammunition for the right, who have a very warped view of what immigrants look like.

  • It’s insane you’re getting this downvoted. Domestic violence from men against women is a massive global issue, and putting your hands over your ears and saying “ well I’m not the problem” is not doing anything. This problem will never get solved until men take ownership over it and stop it.

  • Yeah, I can’t find the raw numbers which is unfortunate, but I think my point stands. The study you linked is different, 60% of Americans as a whole opposed to just Democrats.

Among Democrats who actually care about the issue, the majority want restrictions on arms to Israel. This is admittedly whittling things down a bit, but these are the people the Democrats need to win over. There’s a path to victory by getting a coalition of progressives + people who don’t really care. The die-hard “let’s kill more Palestinians” people are just going to vote Republican either way and trying to pander to them is a losing strategy.

  • Can you link that poll please? I’ve seen it as well, but can’t find it again.

I’m pretty sure you’re misrepresenting it, one of the options was “uncertain” at around 35%. “doing too much” was the predominant view.

This is akin to saying “only 30% of Americans voted for Joe Biden and he somehow still won” neglecting to mention that you’re including non voters.

  • Seriously, this speech might as well have come from Biden.

There was a lot of excitement around her possibly being a departure from Biden’s agenda, and this speech was supposed to show us who she is and how she’ll govern. We got an incredibly right-wing speech after she rode on a wave of progressive momentum. I suspect that momentum will slow now. Leave it to Democrats to shoot themselves in the foot at every turn.

  • I'm aware of that, but when the founder and main host is spreading false and misleading information on the show, it calls into question the whole enterprise.

I do occasionally tune in to episodes not hosted by him, with some skepticism if the issue is in any way politically charged.
